For many employees, diversity is one of the most important values they look for in an organization. That was definitely the case for Iris Ranz, Managing Consultant in ERM’s Marine CPD team, who appreciates the environment that allows her to grow personally and professionally. “Diversity in the workplace is a distinctive characteristic that speaks to my values and welcomes the individual skills and viewpoints that every worker brings to the table. This implies that people from different cultures and backgrounds work together, bring differing perspectives and solutions to problems, allowing for a greater chance of a workable solution to a workplace problem and increasing market opportunities.” Learn more about working at ERM: erm.com/careers
ERMers from the Gulf Business Unit in Austin, Texas have proved that even two hours of volunteering can bring noticeable results for local communities. The team of 21 collected 17 bags of trash, seven bags of recycling, and additional bulk trash in a picturesque location in Downtown Austin. ”We volunteered around a very popular walking/running trail that wraps around Lady Bird Lake. It was a great spot to clean, as there is a lot of trash and the impacts would be noticed more as it is a densely populated area,” notes Gray Ford, Consulting Associate, who was one of the organizers of the volunteering activity. The event was sponsored by Keep Austin Beautiful, a nonprofit focusing on the environmental health of the City of Austin.
This morning, we were delighted to join the UN Global Compact Network UK at the 10th edition of ‘Ring the Bell for Gender Equality’ at the London Stock Exchange, to mark #InternationalWomensDay. Highlighting the critical role that stock exchanges play in advocating for gender equality, ‘Ring the Bell for Gender Equality’ is a partnership of the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, UN Women, IFC - International Finance Corporation, Women in ETFs, and The World Federation of Exchanges. Similar events around the world aim to bring attention to the pivotal role the private sector can play in advancing gender equality to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, and to raise awareness about the Women’s Empowerment Principles. Sabine Hoefnagel, ERM Global Leader of Sustainability and Risk, attended the event and emphasized the importance of developing a culture where everyone feels valued. "As an organization that makes a significant contribution to promoting a culture of inclusion and diversity, and raising awareness to promote gender equality, we are very proud to be part of this global initiative, to reflect the achievements of women, while also recognizing the important work still to be done.”

The Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya is one of the largest slums in Africa. From gender discrimination to crime, unemployment, and not having access to basic necessities like electricity and water - there are countless challenges that contribute to the difficult living conditions in this community. Anno’s Arts is a French charity, that is working towards improving the wellbeing and education of children and adolescents living in extreme poverty notably in the Kibera slum.
