One of the achievements we are most proud of is creating, operationalizing and embedding our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do. Our DEI Council has made incredible progress in cultivating a culture of inclusion and belonging in just two years – the focus, discipline and rigor by the team has yielded tangible results worthy of participating in the 2023 National Diversity Council (NDC) Index. We are pleased to share that FirstKey Homes was one of 47 companies that participated in the National Diversity Council (NDC) Index, which is an annual measurement of organizational commitment to diversity and inclusion among companies in the United States. This was our first year participating, scoring strongly in areas such as our policies, benefits, initiatives and community outreach demonstrating our thought leadership and innovation within the industry. Thank you to our DEI Council, ERG leaders, and each and every Keyper for helping us to achieve this very important milestone – and being a trailblazer in the SFR industry to do it!

FirstKey Homes recently brought home two awards at the Information Management Network's (IMN) Inaugural SFR Industry Awards ceremony held in Scottsdale, Arizona: Rising Star and Excellence in Diversity. Stephanie Stanley was recognized as a Rising Star for her remarkable career growth, leadership, value, and many contributions to FKH. Including her most recent promotion, in just the last five years, this superstar has held six positions of increasing responsibility in several cities in which we operate. FKH also took home the Excellence in Diversity award for our significant contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our workplace and industry. In less than two years, FKH, powered by the DEI Council and ERG leaders, has made significant progress embedding DEI into everything we do – internally and externally.
We have wrapped up our conference season here at FirstKey Homes where we were able to get a lot of our managers across the country together face to face for the first time in a long time! It was amazing to see how much this company has grown and the amazing people that make up FirstKey Homes.

In wrapping up 2021, we celebrated the people who are the heart of our business, our Keypers. Each quarter we come together to connect our Keypers to the business and each other, and recognize all they do. The All-Team Meeting, appropriately themed “Celebrate!,” was brimming with examples of how our Keypers serve our family of residents one caring experience at a time. From the launch of our new facilities maintenance program and our Fleet Inventory Program, to showcasing the rich programming and work of our D&I Council and ERGs in 2021, we had much to celebrate. Thank you to everyone who brought this meeting to life and for your contributions.
In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, our Diversity & Inclusion Council hosted a Keypin’ It Real Speaker Series featuring Luis Avila, Vice President, Governance & Compliance, and Assistant Corporate Secretary at Cox Enterprises. Joining Luis for this discussion was Pia Cornejo, Chief Human Resource Officer, and Michael Torres, Chief Communications Officer at FirstKey Homes. During this interactive virtual event, Keypers were given a forum to fully appreciate the beauty, history, heritage, and cultural impact of the Latino community. On the significance of philanthropy, Luis Avila gave Keypers three words to kick-start giving back: time, talent, and treasure. “In this space, it’s always about time, talent or treasure. At FirstKey Homes, we encourage volunteerism by offering paid volunteer hours to all employees so that they can (safely!) make a difference. Special thanks to the organizers of this month’s Keypin’ it Real Speaker Series: Elizabeth Simon, Sparkle Allen, Lindsey Campbell and Danielle V. Jackson.
