Deanne Hirshfield started her position as health center concierge at the Terraces of Los Altos on May 1, 2024. Read below to learn about Deanne’s experience and impressions of HumanGood. What drew you to HumanGood? When I read the job description it really talks about what is in it for me, that HumanGood is a large non-profit to the senior living community, and to be provided with an opportunity to become our best selves. It’s an opportunity to bring your best work ethic to serve the retirement community. It’s having compassion and caring for people to understand their needs. We are here to serve others. What about HumanGood’s culture stands out to you? Everyone here has a shared sense of purpose. Not only the work and how it helps achieve the long-term goals of the company, but also why the work we do every day is meaningful. How do you see our mission of inspiring the best life in action? It's what we do every day, we have passion to support and succeed as a team, we are open to different viewpoints to improve ideas and plans for better success, we always do the right thing even when it's hard. We speak up when something doesn't seem right, we are always searching for better ways to serve our residents and team members to become more efficient, and most importantly we hold ourselves accountable for great results each and every day.
A few highlights from HumanGood Affordable Housing’s Focus & Lead meeting. The team learned new leadership skills, collaborated with different departments, heard from inspiring speakers and asked important questions. At this year’s meeting, we also celebrated the inaugural group of Values Award winners, Alexis Giraldi Doudar, Wendy Ochoa, Erikka Mangan, Covenant Manor, James Connor, Ginet Chen, Amber Davis, Syuzanna Hovhannisyan, Maria Gamboa and Kimberly Johnson, for the inspiring work they do every day.
HumanGood University recently held a graduation for the first class of the Good to Grow: Emerging Leader program. The 10-week program is intended for front-line team members who aspire to grow into leadership positions. Participants learned competencies in the areas of activating change; collaboration, identifying work priorities, resolving conflict with peers, and skillful conversations. The objective of the program is to develop essential first leadership skills, and create career pathways for team members. Here’s what some of the team members had to say about the program: Kim D: “I am happy to have learned the material not only to apply in my professional life but my personal life as well.” Erika R: “I really learned a lot about myself. It was nice to see I had all the tools within me to be a good leader I just needed to believe in myself to know I have what it takes.” Claire E: “I cannot say enough good things about the program!
