The ERGs are inclusive groups aiming to bring employees with shared characteristics or experiences together in a safe space to talk and build relationships. With guidance from global and regional executive sponsors, each ERG meets (even if only on video conference) frequently throughout the year and collaborates on relevant initiatives. These groups are a way for employees to bring their whole selves to the table and to feel a sense of belonging through a common cause or interest.
From the article written by Trey Northrup on our Flexible Work Arrangements "On some days, teams may require or prefer in-person collaboration. In these scenarios, I would encourage employees to work from the office or set up meetings at a nearby coffee shop. It’s up to our employees to determine how to most effectively get the job done. There will be diverse ways in which people are most productive, and we all must be patient with the various arrangements and safety guidelines, but by working together – even if from afar – we can be even more successful."
There’s been a lot of discussion recently about the hybrid workplace and what the office will look like in a post-pandemic world. For LIXIL, home to the iconic kitchen and bathroom brands American Standard and GROHE, the thought of reinventing its Americas headquarters in Piscataway, NJ, to meet the needs of its diverse employees by creating an open, collaborative and innovative work environment was already underway well before COVID forced everyone else to consider it.

Distributing Face Shields to Frontline Workers amid the Pandemic Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, LIXIL is seeking to help keep local communities safe by donating much-needed face shields to healthcare workers and other frontline professionals in regions where we operate. In March 2020, a group of engineers at LIXIL Americas launched a grassroots initiative to produce and distribute face shields to first responders. They repurposed the 3D printers at its R&D facility in New Jersey, and ramped up production and assembly of shields to make approximately 120 shields per week. LIXIL expanded this activity in July by teaming up with the Jersey City Rapid Maker Response Group (JCRMRG), a volunteer group formed in 2020 that creates hospital-approved face shields. The partnership enabled us to distribute an additional 50,000 shields throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. In October of the same year, we decided to support even more people on the front lines, including teachers, through the donation of more than 20,000 face shields as part of our annual LIXIL Community Day.
