We organised The Green Pitch for individuals to come together to pitch their climate action solutions. At the final round on 2 Nov 2019, 12 project owners made their pitch at the ArtScience Museum – and the #OCBCCares Environment Fund will be supporting 5. The youngest team is a group of young students from Mee Toh School. A big Thank You to all participants of our inaugural Green Pitch. If you have a viable climate action solution, the #OCBCCares Environment Fund is still accepting applications till 31 Dec 2019. #OCBCCares #SaveTomorrow
Getting a bank account is the first critical step that start-ups need to take in order to get their businesses up and running. Without a bank account, an entrepreneur will not be able to proceed to the next stages of its journey such as making contributions to the CPF Board as an employer or receiving customer payments via NETS. #OCBCxSMEs
At OCBC, we believe that there are many ways to maintain or improve #wellness. At our recent wellness event, employees took the opportunity to explore, learn and find how they can best enhance their personal #health and wellness. Colleagues who came in groups tried out TCM acupressure massages and laughed at each other’s expressions. They compared their digital chiropractic assessment charts, threw questions at the assistants at the sleep apnea and eye health screening kiosks and listened intently to talks by accredited speakers. We also launched telehealth services for our employees, giving them the option of receiving GP consultations virtually. Whether we attain wellness via traditional methodologies or modern technologies, we hope that everyone will continue on this path towards informed self-care and maximum wellbeing. #WeSeeYou
Thanks to our vigilant branch banking staff, Alson and Kristie, a 78-year-old lady was prevented from losing $50,000 to a love scam. Our staff truly go the extra mile for customers and have their best interests at heart. Alson said: "We try to put ourselves in our customers' shoes. We don't want this to happen to us or our family members, so of course we don't want this to happen to our customers." Both Alson and Kristie were commended by the Singapore Police Force with a public spiritedness award for their scam prevention efforts.

Leading the charge is Mike Ng, our head of structured and sustainable finance, who sat down with Bloomberg for a chat last week. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMRgJ
Personal development refers to the betterment of the self. That’s why many seek out pursuits like yoga, known for helping to still the mind in our ever-changing world. OCBC Bank editor, Jill Alphonso, has been a convert for 20 years. “Yoga deeply enriches my day to day,” says the former journalist, who works for the Bank’s Group Brand & Communications department. “It helps me develop the tools that are useful in both my personal life and the corporate world.” If you meet her around the Bank, Jill won’t mention the championships or her practice to you right away. Her job is to tell other people’s stories and help craft messaging, so she asks does more question-asking than speaking about herself. But if you do run into her on the street, “feel free to ask me about yoga anytime”, she says. “It’s a subject I’ll never tire of!” #PeopleOfOCBC
Congratulations to our #HR team for winning the Excellence in Leadership Development Gold Award at the #HRExcellenceAwards. #WeSeeYou
Studies show that a child’s physical and mental growth in the first six years, especially in the first 1,000 days, can be directly linked to his or her school achievement and future livelihood. Supporting the national agenda to make preschool education more accessible, OCBC Bank and staff contributed S$1 million to fund two years of childcare fees for children from low-income families who enrol at My First Skool from January 2020. An estimated 2,500 children will benefit from this programme. As added support, we will also be organising financial literacy workshops for parents, to help them better manage their family finances.
