We’re proud to announce that OVO has been officially accredited as a Menopause Friendly Workplace! We know that menopause affects everyone – whether you’re going through perimenopause or menopause yourself, or supporting someone who is. At least 40% of women in the UK will experience menopause symptoms and 1 in 10 of those have considered leaving their jobs as a direct result of their symptoms. Achieving this accreditation is a huge symbol of recognition for the menopause friendly culture we’ve worked hard to create.
During July, OVO team members proudly marched in Bristol and Glasgow to showcase our commitment to fostering a workplace where everyone feels empowered to be their authentic selves. We marched to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community of colleagues and customers, and to show our unwavering support for a world where everyone is loved, respected, and celebrated for who they are. Pride isn't just a day or a month – it's a year-round commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable world. At OVO, we're proud to be part of that journey.
At OVO, we’re committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive. From a first interview to a weekly team catch up, we want everyone to feel welcome and supported everyday they’re with us 💚 As a Disability Confident Employer, we’ve worked hard to back this commitment up with action. We strive to support our people with long-term health conditions and disabilities. I’m delighted to say that the impact of these efforts has earned us the title of Disability Confident Leader. This gives us the opportunity to support other organisations as they become more accessible. Huge thanks to the Business Disability Forum who have helped us develop our belonging networks, accessible workspaces and training sessions, and to everyone at OVO who has brought them to life 👏
We’re proud to be recognised as a Top 50 Employer for Gender Equality 2024 by The Times and Business in the Community 💚 Despite progress, gender inequality remains a persistent issue – especially in energy. According to 2023 data, women make up just 16% of the sector globally. Changing this requires more than we can deliver alone, but we’re proud to champion what we know is right.
“Warm, safe and a little bit fashionable.” Our new hijab and turban are all three, ensuring our people can be themselves and perform their best while in the field. It’s personal touches like this that make a big difference to life at OVO 💚
Bring on 2024. We’re committed to building a place where everyone truly belongs. #OVOBelonging
OVO was founded on the belief that energy could be better, fairer and greener. Our direct response to the climate crisis, Plan Zero, sets the strategic direction on how we become truly net zero by 2035.
We've been named a Most Loved Workplace! Our people do their best work when they feel like they can be who they really are. It’s not just important to us that our teams feel like that, it’s the most important thing. We are a stronger, kinder team when we work together. 💚
“I couldn’t think of a more exciting opportunity right now than to join one of the most progressive, mission led, green energy businesses in the UK, and to play my part in helping to solve how we deliver outstanding customer experiences alongside our goals of being a sustainable business.” Our new Chief Customer Officer couldn’t be more right. We’re pleased to announce Dan Burdett will join us in July to ensure customers are supported during a difficult time of high energy prices and ensuring the company delivers on its Plan Zero aim to deserve its customers trust #energy #decarbonisation #planzero
We're proud to partner with Earthwatch Europe to fund 12 Tiny Forests across the UK in deprived areas of the UK. They’ll become amazing outdoor classrooms, where kids will learn about nature and the climate crisis. And by 2023 they’ll absorb up to 7.2 tonnes of carbon each year – making them up to 30x more effective than other tree-planting schemes 🌳 OVO Foundation's partnership is part of our Climate Changers Programme which aims to bring kids closer to nature. Only 18% of children living in the most deprived areas never visit natural areas; we want to change that 🌎 Find out more here 👇
