In this blog post, we’d like to give you a glimpse of how we foster a supportive, inclusive culture where every Pentonian feels comfortable and enthusiastic about their ambitious and challenging daily work to create the best business banking for our clients.
It has always been important to us to treat our employees, customers and partners fairly and responsibly – so that we not only create sustainable value as a company, but also for society. As we grow with our customers, they grow with us – and sustainable action has become even more important for all sides. That is why we at Penta want to make an even greater contribution to a sustainable future. One of our milestones is to make Penta climate-neutral by 2022 at the latest.
At Penta we are convinced that we are building something great. To achieve this, it is important to us that our employees can participate directly in the company’s success. To meet this requirement even better, Penta has introduced a virtual share option program (VSOP) in July 2021. With this program, we offer all employees virtual company shares so that they can directly participate financially in the company’s value growth.
The people in a company are the greatest drivers of an inspiring corporate culture and fill all values with life. And this team of employees can only develop their full potential if the workplace ensures the well-being of all members
And What Was the Most Exciting Thing You Ever Worked On? Some Sneak Peeks? “I have a feeling it might be Penta! ;) Projects requiring creativity, entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to start from scratch, but also persist until the finish line, are the most exciting things to me. One example is reaching the final stage of a well-known German Media Prize competition when I was still working for a global Media Agency. Another one was co-organizing the first Start-Up Weekend in Düsseldorf and collaborating with Bulgarian VCs and start-ups on popularizing the Bulgarian start-up ecosystem in Western Europe. Some of these activities were on top of my regular job and work assignments, since I was just motivated by creating an impact—both in my day-to-day work and for topics and causes I believe in, such as helping start-ups.”
“We can build competencies, but we can’t build good character. So don’t stress during the interview, not everything needs to be perfect. We have seen it all—kids popping up, spouses coming through; but you get an extra point if an animal pops up in the background—mine certainly do. We want every person who decides to join us to feel as certain as possible that Penta is the right place for them and in order for that to happen, we need to be real with the candidates first.”
Penta People: Meet Vasilija Grubic, Penta’s Head of Customer Relations Vasilija, What Do You Like Most About Penta? “The craziness and the constant hustle. I always remark that there is so much going on, but I actually love it. It would be boring if it would be any different. And most importantly I love the people I work with, and I love my job. I have such an amazing team that I’m so proud of and of course of all other Pentonians.”
In April 2021 we welcomed Dan Hardaker as Head of People & Culture for Penta. Dan is responsible for our HR team and most importantly for making Penta a great place to work. Dan’s Heart Has Been With People in Work Environments for Many Years Dan is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD (UK professional body for HR) and joins us with a wide range of industry experience having recently led the Global Talent Function for Babylon Health and previously worked in HR and organization development roles for Heineken, HSBC, HSBC and O2. We’re Proud to Have Dan on Board at Penta Two things attracted Dan to Penta, first of all being based in Berlin a city which he loves to visit gave him the opportunity to relocate from the UK but above that after working for HSBC in the technology function Dan was attracted to a company that strives to make business banking easier.
