Last week PFS hosted off our annual event celebrating a decade of impact in federal healthcare. Our mission remains crystal clear: championing solutions that transform Veterans' lives. Our CEO, Greg Smallwood, laid out the 'Always Forward' mindset that defines PFS and drove our day forward. He laid out an inspiring vision for PFS's future – “A decade of service has forged trusted partnerships, sparked impactful solutions, and proven our resilience. Through relationships built on excellence and forward-thinking approaches, we've evolved alongside our federal partners to better serve Veterans. As healthcare transformation accelerates, we're ready to lead with solutions that make a tangible difference in Veterans' lives.” Our second day focused on advancement through innovation, exploring emerging solutions that will shape the future, and an awesome immersive experience for our employees to learn more about the organization. Employees left the event motivated and with an Always Forward mindset.
Digital health transformation requires strong partnerships, fresh perspectives, and bold execution. PFS Lab recently hosted our partner event 'Transforming Care through Digital Health Innovation' at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. During a featured panel, expert speakers from PFS Lab, McKinsey & Company, Deloitte, and rockITdata explored how standardized processes, robust data infrastructure, and emerging technologies are creating new possibilities for healthcare delivery. At PFS Lab, we create the space where innovation thrives - fostering trusted relationships and cultivating shared purpose to drive meaningful change in healthcare delivery. Together, we're transforming healthcare delivery for those who serve our nation.
2024 was an award winning year for PFS. We were honored to receive our first Emmy® Award for our work on a Department of Veterans Affairs' PSA video on early detection of colorectal cancer. Recognized by the San Francisco/Northern California Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) in the Spot Announcement category, the “Stay Ahead” PSA emphasizes the importance of early detection and screening for colorectal cancer among Veterans. Dana Cogar, our Vice President of Strategic Communications, expressed, "While we don’t set out to win awards, our team is elated to see this call-to-action for colorectal cancer screening be elevated and recognized by NATAS and hopefully reach more Veterans. We strive to support VA’s National Oncology Program and its collaborators, and our collective focus is on providing the best possible cancer care to Veterans."
Last week, we wrapped up the year with our final hybrid All-Staff meeting. Together, we reflected on the year’s accomplishments, heard heartfelt stories from team members who’ve been with PFS through the years, and gained valuable insights from leadership on our growth and the road ahead. As we look forward to celebrating our 10-Year Anniversary and Annual Event, we do so with gratitude, excitement—and yes, plenty of cookies! With every step forward, we continue to RISE—living our core values of Respect, Integrity, Selflessness, and Excellence—as we fulfill our mission to improve the health and well-being of those served by federal agencies and support Veterans, Caregivers, and families. Here’s to the journey ahead!
A special thank you to Kianna Webb, who accepted the 2024 Access Housing, Inc (DC) Community Service Award on behalf of PFS. This Award recognizes individuals who make a difference in the lives of Veterans experiencing homelessness in DC. Kianna demonstrates her dedication to support the important mission of Access Housing, DC. From collecting donations, coordinating volunteers serving the Winterhaven Homeless Veterans Stand Down event, to personally handing warm boots to Veterans, Kianna plays an integral role in PFS's own service efforts to support Veterans, caregivers, and their families. PFS proudly celebrated Kianna during Access Housing’s 25th Anniversary event hosted at the American Legion.
Recently our local DMV staff gathered for a Friendsgiving lunch followed by our regular monthly hybrid staff meeting. We took time to pause, to be grateful for one another and the important work we do each day, and to enjoy a delicious meal together.
