A big thank you to lifelong entrepreneur, Fred Joyal, for having Joshua March on to talk all things bold (including, of course, our work here at SCiFi Foods). #founders #founder #founderstories #entrepreneur #entrepreneurship #podcast #climatechange #Sustainability
Last week, both of our co-founders (Joshua and Kasia Gora) spoke on separate panels at the annual #SynBioBeta conference in Oakland. While we're using synbio in relation to cultivated meat, there are many other applications, too. Here's a quick recap on the conference from Julianne LeMieux of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News. #biotechnology #founders #engineering #geneediting #CRISPR #syntheticbiology #science #STEM #cultivatedmeat
Get ready, #synbiobeta2023 - today is the panel for all things #cultivatedmeat. 2:45pm moderated by Elaine Watson of AgFunder and featuring our own Joshua March, plus Orbillion's Patricia Bubner, PhD and Meatable's Krijn De Nood. #meat #futureoffood #biotech #bioengineering #crispr #synbio #syntheticbiology #sustainability #climatechange #foodindustry #foodtech Orbillion Bio (YC W21)
Synthetic biology can be used in so many different ways. Here's a look at how LanzaJet is applying the technology to make perfume, polyester, and more. Gucci H&M #sustainable #climatechange #circulareconomy #sustainability #sustainablebusiness #carbonneutral John Cumbers #businessforgood Forbes
Our LCA - the first one ever conducted on cultivated beef burgers - found it to be more sustainable than conventional beef AND we took the extra step to have ours peer reviewed by an academic journal. Additionally, it was done using conventional energy as the source....we are now using renewable energy which makes the SCiFi burger even MORE sustainable than previously calculated. #sustainable #energy #climatechange #food #foodtechnology #cultivatedmeat #renewableenergy #LCA #labgrownmeat #meatindustry #news #factcheck The Spoon
It's encouraging to see increased government-led initiatives towards a more sustainable food system. Especially as many parts of the world are currently dealing with record-breaking heat waves due to climate change. #climatechange #USDA USDA #sustainability #sustainablebusiness #SDGs #foodsystems #foodtech #sustainable
When it comes to the environmental impact of beef, it's hard to deny the facts: it takes a massive toll on the planet. Which is part of why we set out on our journey to make meat the world can depend on. Interesting piece by The Guardian below, however, outlines big beef's tricks, tactics, and schemes when it comes to trying to dissuade the public from giving up beef. #climatechange #sustainability #meat #beef #globalwarming #businessforgood #cultivatedmeat #plantbased #plantbasedfoods #marketing #press #foodnews #foodtech
The Fast Company 2023 list of World Changing Ideas has just been released today...and what a list it is. In the food category, a big congratulations to Onego Bio, who's taking a unique approach to fermentation to deliver the world a better egg white. And we're proud to have been named a finalist in the food category for becoming the first company in the world to successfully grow beef cells in suspension, reducing the cost of cultivated beef burgers 1000x, and propelling us on our way to the $1 SCiFi Burger. To everyone else on the list and to everyone out there working to make a positive impact on the food system, thank you for your efforts. We need all the World Changing Ideas possible to build a better future for generations to come. Cheers. We fear what we don't know or understand. It's so important that we check our facts, not only for our own benefit, but also so that we don't spread false information any further. USA TODAY #GMOs #factchecking #geneediting #science #scienceandtechnology #technology #food #foodtechnology
