New research from Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute introduces detailed characterization of the activome, a subset of active enzymes in the proteome, using #masscytometry and #ImagingMassCytometry. These technologies enabled simultaneous analysis of multiple proteases in parallel, providing a framework using mass cytometry for multiplexed enzyme activity detection. Combining TOF-probes with cell markers enabled integration of proteolytic activity across heterogeneous cell populations to generate a more holistic understanding of the activome and more informative protease readouts. IMC was used to reveal the spatial distribution of active proteases. #Hyperion Check it out: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMuQy
Markham, Ontario - To celebrate the approaching Thanksgiving holiday in Canada, Fluidigm colleagues in Markham created a Gratitude Tree. Employees had the opportunity to write shout-outs and notes of appreciation to colleagues to whom they were grateful for assistance, support and collaboration. #ValuesMatter #DriveToMakeADifference #StepUp #Gratitude
Special thanks to all our speakers and colleagues who joined us at the 3rd Annual Imaging Mass Cytometry™ (IMC™) User Group Meeting in Zurich. We greatly enjoyed the second day of research presentations and engaging discussions. The progress being made to advance our understanding of health and disease with IMC has been truly impressive, offering new insights in cancer, neuroinflammation, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, drug discovery and more. “Together with the imaging community, we believe this is just the beginning for highly multiplexed imaging and look forward to a fantastic future for this transformational technology,” said Chris Linthwaite, President and CEO of Fluidigm. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year! Safe travels! #IMCUGM19 #CyTOF #HeavyMetalsRock #ImagingMassCytometry #cancer #multiplesclerosis #drugdiscovery #biomarker #neuroinflammation #disease #imaging
#SuccesswithCyTOF® : University of California, Los Angeles researchers used #masscytometry to comprehensively and reproducibly profile chronic inflammation in the benign prostate associated with a higher risk of developing prostate cancer. Using a 20-parameter mass cytometry panel, researchers identified extensive immune cell heterogeneity, showing 57 phenotypically distinct immune cell types in the human prostate alone. These findings highlight the diversity of prostate immune cells and the potential role of specific immune subsets in prostate cancer development and progression. Check out the new breakthrough Advanta™ RNA-Seq NGS Library Prep Kit workflow that reduces the costs for full-length stranded libraries by up to 50%. Developed for use with the Fluidigm® Juno™ microfluidic system, the automated workflow can also reduce the number of operator interventions and total hands-on time to approximately two hours, a decrease of more than 70% as compared to traditional manual methods. “The new Advanta RNA-Seq NGS Library Prep Kit would enable us to significantly reduce our cost-per-sample and hands-on time,” said Scott Magness, PhD, Associate Professor at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. “We were very impressed by the simple, automated microfluidic workflow that requires only 10 nanograms of RNA per sample.” Read today’s announcement: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMccS
We are excited to announce a collaboration with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai on a landmark single-cell study of the human epigenome. Funded by an award of up to $27.8 million from the Epigenetic CHaracterization and Observation (ECHO) program of the U.S. Defense Department’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Fluidigm will receive up to $3.9 million over four years to develop a single-cell measurement device to identify epigenetic changes in human blood using microfluidics technologies.
