Happy new week! Here’s wishing all our US-based team members a Happy Labor Day!!! We are incredibly grateful for all the work you do at Wave, and hope that you had a wonderful and well-deserved holiday!
Happy Monday!! Today, we are excited to spotlight Sophie Au. who joined Wave earlier this year and is based out of Germany. Sophie is a Software Engineer on the Agent team and says joining Wave was actually by accident, an accident that became too good to be true. “I joined Wave almost accidentally at the start of the year and have not regretted it! Be it building a product where I can see that it makes people's lives better, working with a bunch of intelligent and lovely people, or having respect for people's lives outside of work, and I could not have chosen better! A very happy Friday to you, and we hope your week is ending well! At Wave, we always maximize our rate of learning and recently, we launched a six-month mentorship program that seeks to empower potential leaders by giving them the resources and tools they need to excel in their career aspirations. The program is designed on a mentor-to-mentee pairing model. For our first cohort, we signed up 14 mentors with significant leadership experience and a strong understanding of Wave’s culture to provide motivation, emotional support, and guidance, amongst other resources, to our mentees, whilst acquiring great new skills and perspectives themselves! The penguin caught my attention!!! This week, we are taking it all the way to Mali with a feature of Mah Bintou Coulibaly, our Head of Operations in Mali. "Seven months ago, after 15 years working for much more classical organizations, I became a Waver! I first learned about Wave in September 2021, about a month after its launch in Mali. I found the logo so cute, simple, smart and friendly that I decided to do further research on the company. I was pleasantly surprised by my findings: finally a company that actually makes meaningful and measurable differences in people’s lives by promoting financial inclusion using simple, reliable, and affordable digital solutions.
Happy Monday and hope your week is starting well!!! One of the amazing highlights of working at Wave is being able to take 6 months off, on parental leave! We first spoke about this incredible parental leave benefit when we featured Adama https://lnkd.in/deqCPRhm, our Senegal-based Business Development Manager. Recently, we caught up with David Nikel-Shepherd, a UK-based Engineering Manager who joined Wave in July of 2019, to learn about his experience using Wave's parental leave benefit. Happy new week! Today, we are excited to spotlight Jackie Ochola, our Uganda General Manager, who joined Wave very recently and is already having an incredible experience. Hear her: “I joined Wave two weeks ago as the Uganda General Manager, and I am excited for the opportunities and possibilities that this Wave of goodness could bring to the lives of people on this continent. It has been really easy for me to arrive and belong at Wave. The team is very warm and supportive, and a playbook exists for almost any imaginable need that a new joiner could have. I am pretty sure the journey of learning, growth, winning in big and small ways and real transformation has only just begun’’. Enjoy the Wave of goodness Jackie and we are glad that you are already having a swell time!
Happy Friday 😊. We are all about Women in Leadership, better yet, Women in Tech 👏🔥. We are sprinkling some inspiration on your timeline with this very powerful picture of two of our female Product Leaders at Wave Stephanie Sarr DIOH, Product Manager Integrations, and June Seif, Product Manager Telephony, taken during a co-working session in Nairobi. June and Stephanie are two of the many female leaders managing incredible teams and functions at Wave, and we are so lucky to have them.

Here are some of the not- so flashback pictures of this visit: Pictures 1-3 were in Burkina-Faso Pictures 4-6 were taken in Mali Pictures 7-9 were in Côte d’Ivoire We hope you enjoy these wholesome pictures as much as we do! Enjoy your week!
Happy Monday! We are startin out the week with this feature of Carmelle Towendo Merchant Success Lead and Corneille Towendo Learning and Development Lead who are siblings and both work out of Wave’s Dakar, Senegal office. One of the most incredible things about working at Wave is the feeling of inclusivity, family and sense of belonging. When we hire at Wave, we often ask team members to refer the most amazing people in their lives that they would be excited to work with - family, friends or former colleagues! Carmelle and Corneille are one of the many family members that are working and thriving at Wave. “It’s been a great experience working with my brother,’’ Carmelle says. “We get to talk about the different projects we are working on and above all, we can be embarrassingly honest with each other and help each other grow. It’s a blessing that I'm so grateful for’’. For Corneille, working alongside his sister Carmelle keeps him accountable - “Carmelle referred me to Wave, but of course I went through the entire hiring process just like every other candidate. I actually applied
Happy New August!!! On this first day and first Monday of the month, we are excited to spotlight Sam Kwamanga our IT Operations Lead who is based out of Nairobi, Kenya, and joined Wave in January of this year. Here's what he says about his time at Wave so far - “Having been in the IT space for 17+ years, my career path finally led me to this exciting opportunity at Wave, my first fintech and startup company to work for. What motivates me on a daily basis? Working with really talented colleagues, who are fully focused on improving the livelihood of all Africans through financial inclusion. It's been so exciting to see everyone pull in the same direction and work towards the same goal of positively impacting lives and I couldn’t be happier to be here’’. Thank you for this powerful testimony Sam, and we are thrilled to be making a positive difference together! #africa #team #people #careerpath #financialinclusion #diverseworkplace #socialimpact #mobilemoney
