As a health and well-being organization, WesleyLife knows holistic wellness is much more than providing healthy snacks and a workout room — although those amenities are certainly important! In honor of Heart Month, February’s lunch-and-learn at our organizational headquarters in Johnston today featured an American Heart Association workshop on hands-only CPR. We learned the importance of life-saving compressions — and practiced to the rhythm of the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive.” Thanks to our Director of Health and Well-Being, Shannon Draayer, for organizing this important educational — and practical — event! #healthandwellbeing #cpr #heartmonth
WesleyLife’s focus on health and well-being applies not only to our residents and clients, but to the individuals who serve them. Our Know Your Numbers initiative encourages all team members, residents, and clients to visit their physicians yearly -- and her participation in that program reminded physical therapist P.J. Walker-Wilson that she was overdue for a visit. As a result of that trip to the doctor, P.J. became aware of a life-threatening issue, began receiving treatment, and is on the mend.
If you've ever volunteered for WesleyLife Meals on Wheels, know that you have made an impact. As illustrated below, we delivered 223,000 meals and well-being checks to 1,600 older Central Iowans as well as military veterans of all ages in 2022. Without 6,500-plus volunteer hours, that level of service would not have been achieved. Volunteers -- please accept our heartfelt thanks. And if one of your new year's resolutions involves volunteering your time, please consider joining the Meals on Wheels team! Learn more today at https://lnkd.in/gA-wqgp8. #volunteer #mealsonwheels
For the second year in a row, Great Place to Work Institute has honored WesleyLife with certification as a Great Place to Work. An independent research and consulting firm, Great Place to Work evaluated more than 60 elements of WesleyLife team members’ experiences on the job in making its decision. The certification process considered more than 1,000 employee surveys from across the organization’s locations throughout Iowa. The survey queried team members about pride in the organization’s community impact; their belief that the work they do makes a difference; and the knowledge that their work has special meaning to the organization. “We’re very proud of this designation, and especially proud that it resulted from feedback from our team members about the way they view their importance to our mission and vision,” Rob Kretzinger, CEO of WesleyLife, said. “We view our organizational culture as critical to the success and effectiveness of WesleyLife, and we’re gratified that our team members look forward to coming to work each day."
WELLCOM, an organization that provides members with a variety of resources to help promote workplace wellness programs, has honored WesleyLife CEO Rob Kretzinger with its highest honor, the Light of Wellness Leadership Award. The award is given annually to a senior-level executive who provides encouragement, time, and resources to create an improved workplace for his or her team members across multiple dimensions of well-being. Recipients are role models for strategically elevating their organizations’ wellness programs to top business priorities.

WellSpire, a health and wellness organization that will bring a new type of senior living to the Quad Cities, began operations Monday, July 1. The product of a partnership between WesleyLife and Genesis Health, WellSpire, announced in January, strengthens a common mission to pave the way for older adults in the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois to lead healthy, fulfilling lives that focus on purpose and well-being. As WesleyLife brings its 72 years of experience and expertise serving older adults to Genesis Health System’s strong healthcare brand and existing senior living portfolio, the forming of WellSpire creates an opportunity for the joined organizations to serve senior markets in both states through a comprehensive health and wellness network. Under the terms of the partnership, WellSpire assumes management of Genesis Health System senior living campuses in DeWitt, Iowa, and Silvis, Illinois. The organization will break ground later this year for a new senior living community in Bettendorf, Iowa.
