In light of the COVID pandemic, many of us have been relying more heavily on screen time for entertainment. And while we love Netflix as much as the binge watcher, a sedentary lifestyle has been linked to countless preventable health conditions. In February, we launched our internal Healthy Heart Walking Challenge, designed to inspire employees to get up and out from behind their desks. Their challenge: 6,500 steps per day. Today we’d like to introduce you to our challenge winner Nena Philan. Nena is in our Stone Mountain, Georgia location and has been with us for 6 months. She enjoys gardening, hiking, reading and painting. The challenge may be over, but with better weather upon us, we hope everyone will feel inspired to keep up the steps this spring!
We were honored to make a recent $5,000 donation toward a scholarship for Carolina Code School. “We're always on a mission to do good for our community at World, particularly when it comes to removing barriers for people who are working to better themselves and their communities,” said Chad Prashad, Chief Executive Officer. “We believe in supporting local educational institutions like Carolina Code School, which offers a much-needed pathway to employment in technology for students from all backgrounds."

At World Finance, we don’t just work in the community. We live here, too. That’s why we get involved in a variety of local programs and organizations to help build stronger communities. Our team members are active volunteers with local and national charities and we’re regular sponsors of local events that bring neighbors together. Throughout the month of October, we recognized Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which promotes awareness and prevention of domestic violence. Safe Harbor, a local non-profit organization that offers support to survivors of domestic violence and their children, held their first-ever virtual Fashion with a Passion event which we were so excited to sponsor. This amazing event helped raise $120,000 which will go towards emergency shelters, counseling services, legal assistance, group support, and more! Thank you Safe Harbor for letting us be a part of this event!
