Pros – -Good environment among associates and store management
-Autonomy in ordering and merchandising
-Growth of the company presents opportunity for advancement
Cons – -Low pay among industry
-Growth creating problems in terms of not having enough qualified people
-No review system for managers
-Most stores cater to EBT customers meaning business is very uneven depending on the state from high sales at certain points of the month to almost nothing making it hard to schedule for.
Advice to Senior Management – -Before implementing new policies such as extended hours ask your management team their opinions and ideas
-Extend training program from 6 weeks to 12
-Keep expectations in check with new stores so established ones who built the company do not carry the burden of higher sales goals/ lower payroll to make up for new stores that fall short.
