Direct supervisors are lovely and supportive. Because you're working within the institution, you have free and easy access to learn website management, research skills, etc. It pays well for a student position which definitely helps offset living costs as a graduate student

The top administration ultimately seems removed and uncaring toward their employees, which can make one a bit disillusioned with it all. No other benefits beyond pay.

Brandeis has a great culture in general, is humanistic (generous benefits package and time off if you need it), and is generally stable and conducive to work-life balance. Staff are allowed tuition stipend for those who want to take classes.

Slow growth in career. Most coordinators I know did what I did which is get their work / academic experience there, then leave for real growth. The promotion process from within is glacial (if there's movement at all) and there is a huge bias towards certain groups. If you fall outside those groups and want to better yourself career-wise, the best thing to do is leave.

The culture here is very negative and destructive. Faculty routinely bully staff and throw tantrums when they don't get what they want. Turnover is high among administrative staff, and when someone leaves, you're asked to assume their responsibilities with no extra pay. This is an institution in slow but steady decline, which makes working here soul-crushing.
