How are career development opportunities at BrightView?

Pay was decent & people were nice

New CEO destroys careers and ONLY cares about pleasing shareholders and increasing his own pay package. Employees that worked there for years, decades even, were kicked out and replaced by cheaper labor and contractors in a desperate attempt to boost stock value. It’s a landscaping company. The stock will never come close to its overvalued IPO but that doesn’t stop the golden parachuted management from taking a hatchet to the lives of dedicated employees. The career path is very undefined and promotion from within is rare. Ever since the companies that merged to become BrightView did so, the toxicity of the work environment has increased consistently.

Overworked, not much room for advancement, not much long term direction from leaders

- As a manager, I witnessed firsthand the lack of accountability and professionalism from senior leadership - Raises are minimal or nonexistent, no matter how well your team performs - Culture of overworking employees without recognition or support - Leadership repeatedly stated that industry standards don’t apply because BrightView is a public company - Constant gossip and power plays among senior leadership, especially the VPGM in the Great Lakes region, who fosters a toxic and divisive work environment - Decisions are made based on politics, not performance - Employee morale is dangerously low due to job cuts, and turnover is high—yet leadership shows no urgency to change

Corporate policies and changes are making people quit. I have seen it many times at the branch level where people who get promoted into higher level positions barely get compensated for it. You are just a number at the end of the day unfortunately.
