What is working from home like at Crunchbase?

      Crunchbase reviews

Chaotic Leadership, No Direction, and Constant Attrition

      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Competitive pay, solid benefits, and the ability to work from home are the only real positives. The onboarding process is smooth and gives a false sense of stability before reality sets in.

      Cons

Crunchbase suffers from chronic indecision and a complete lack of communication from leadership. There’s no clear vision, and priorities shift weekly depending on who’s talking the loudest. Leadership ego drives decisions more than data or logic. The tech debt is overwhelming and ignored, leaving teams to patch things together just to stay afloat. Long-term employees are leaving in droves, and it feels like rats escaping a sinking ship. Management makes no visible effort to retain talent, listen to feedback, or work collaboratively with employees. Morale is at rock bottom, and most people are quietly looking for the exit.

      Company work culture is toxic!

      Pros

Work from home allowance to build up your space for your home office.

      Cons

Company work culture is toxic! There are managers who are bullies, show inappropriate and unethical behaviors towards employees! When you complain to management, they will try to pacify you and then blatantly forget about it!

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re very sorry to hear that you felt mistreated and unsupported during your time here. Behavior that is inappropriate or disrespectful is not acceptable and does not align with our values. Concerns raised about conduct are taken seriously, and we expect leaders to uphold a professional, respectful environment. We appreciate you speaking up and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with our People Team.

      Pros

Remote, some pockets of good people, work/life balance

      Cons

If you are thinking of working for Crunchbase, consider this your sign to run - the company is in the gutter, running out of runway, and is expecting another round of layoffs soon. The majority of open positions are for the Rev Org and its because this whole team is an absolute mess. Insane amount of turnover from the entry level AEs to the managers. Nobody knows the name of the products, the differences between them, and nobody is hitting their quotas because the product is horrible and impossible to sell. A lot of turnover (voluntary and involuntary...) has created burnout and chaos for anyone left. As for the execs -- it's a a bunch of stereotypical "tech bros" who are unprofessional and will happily fire everyone from their teams but won't take any responsibility when their team fails to perform. As for the CEO Jager - he's allergic to feedback and flames employees who speak poorly about him on Glassdoor. He outwardly mocks those who try to ask real and pressing questions during townhalls. He has not done a single thing to try to fix the terrible culture other than giving us surveys that he then becomes defensive about. Jager overpromises and under delivers constantly regarding pipeline and new product launches. Harsh, though true -- his tenure at the company should have ended long ago. How he continues to justify his position to the board despite the company's failures and disgruntled employees is something they should teach in business school. Oh, and are you interested in a promotion or raise? Get lost. You’ll be told the company is broke whilst execs continue to receive their regular cash bonuses and fly first class to five-star resorts for exec offsites 2x a year. It truly a tragedy how great of a place this used to be and how far it has fallen. PS any positive review you see on here is likely our People team, who makes it quite obvious that the review is fake - I am sure you will have no trouble spotting them.
