Does Nous Group offer bonus pay?

      Nous Group reviews

      A joke

      Executive assistant
      Former employee
      London, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

None, but leaving was the best thing I did.

      Cons

I got offered a job here and left. There are ZERO employee benefits. No private health, no insurances. Watch their responses also when other reviewers point that out. They come back with "Our culture is what makes Nous" or "We are looking into benefits for London". Thing is, they have been saying that for years Salary is abysmal. £40K for an EA. And they make out that the bonus you get compensates for it. Most EAs get a decent base of £65K in London AND a bonus of 15% Stay away from this joke of a place is my advice.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your time at Nous. We introduced private health insurance in July 2025 after several years of consideration of market practices and what was right for our context.

      Stand out culture

      Senior consultant
      Current employee
      Melbourne

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      * Culture and people are the stand out of this company * The projects we work on are often interesting

      Cons

      * Minimal other compensations and benefits besides a bonus of approx 15% of salary * Hours can be fairly long (10 hour days common) but I also believe there is flexibility and choice in the hours you take on

Thank you for sharing your experience as it helps others to learn more about Nous and whether it might be a place where they will enjoy the work, the work environment and the culture. Great people do help make a great company!

A good place to work, but on the sharp decline

      Senior consultant
      Current employee
      Melbourne
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Casual culture, with smart and engaging people - Good work-life balance - Projects aim to deliver positive influence (mostly)

      Cons

      - Company is scrambling to regain market share and strengthen bottom line- effects can be seen in the decline in culture - Although advertised as "at average", the remuneration is slightly lower. Variable bonus option included but needs to be +20% for total remunerations to be at par with competitors - Limited range of sectors and projects available, Mainly public sector and education work, but is suffering from the softening market, - Pretend to be holier than thou, but unconsciously try to model the company as per Big4

Nous has a great culture, which we value and pay close attention to maintaining. The consulting market has been challenging for all in the last 12 months, which means managing the business, including costs, well, allowing us to continue delivering quality work with clients, and ensuring we maintain the best possible work environment and experience for Nousers. Nous' collaborative, optional, bonus structure has been in place for 25 years and is designed to drive collaboration, provide choice and flexibility and allow all Nousers to share in both the successes and otherwise. Those with a lower risk appetite, or where personal circumstances require certainty, can choose the no bonus option, with an uplift in base salary.

Great place to work but a bit smug

      Senior consultant
      Former employee
      Canberra
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Projects that are genuinely of positive impact and meaningful; some great people (particularly the Principals), communal bonus structure that promotes collaboration; positive culture overall.

      Cons

PDs and PMs often disagree but will try to hide it from junior Cs/SCs; OPL practice is rife with micromanaging Ms and Ds; company acts like it is the only moral consultancy when it is still driven primarily by profit first and foremost.

We always appreciate feedback and reviews, as they enable us to learn and grow. From your review it seems you had some great experiences tempered by some not so great project and team dynamics. We provide comprehensive development for project managers and directors and will review the content to ensure it appropriately addresses how to engage in productive debate (disagreeing can be a positive!) and to manage teams for high performance. It is also a helpful reminder for our performance review process and for team members to provide feedback on project leadership capability, to ensure we are making the right promotion decisions.

Low diversity, high rigidity to improve and lower relevance in future

      Director
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      1. Nous could be a great training ground for young grads. 2. You can grow fast if you find a sponsor from top. 3. Good for health, education and public sector. 4. Balanced gender ratio. In fact, number of women is slightly more than men.

      Cons

1a. Lack of Diversity (Except Gender diversity) The company has consistently lacked diversity, particularly at the leadership and executive board levels, since its inception. This appears to be a conscious decision, despite multiple objections. Non-diversity is a pervasive and defining part of their culture. While they may hire diverse individuals at the junior level, these employees are often not given opportunities to grow. You can verify this by checking their people profiles and noting how few non-white individuals occupy Principal and Director positions on the profile section of their website. 1b. Impact on Work Culture This lack of diversity is also reflected in their ways of working. The company continues to rely on outdated frameworks such as the Nous Architectural Operating Model Framework (NOAF), which they present as their best offering. You can review NOAF under their organisation performance section (sorry, Glassdoor does not permit external links). Their other key offerings, like writing reports for the public sector, have long lost relevance in today’s digital age, yet they persist in treating these offerings as indispensable, despite clients expressing dissatisfaction on multiple occasions. As a result they pick up micro projects that do not make transformational impact on the clients. These projects are basically boring admin work that clients want to get done onshore. 2. Overworked Staff and Burnout Consulting staff are routinely assigned to multiple simultaneous projects, euphemistically termed “high exposure,” with the number of projects typically ranging between 2-5. This leads to poor-quality work and unhappy clients. Additionally, it causes burnout and job dissatisfaction among employees. 3. Overpriced Services and Underpaid Staff Their billing rates are higher than those of the Big Four consultancies and comparable to MBB firms, even in sectors where they have little experience. Yet, salaries, including bonuses, are among the lowest in the consulting industry. Utilisation rates for consultants are slightly higher than the industry average. Unlike other consulting firms, Nous does not operate on a partnership model. Simple math suggests that profits are good, but they are exclusively enjoyed by a select few individuals who run the company like a personal fiefdom and hence why should they invest in upgrading their propositions that may change the utopian world they live in. 4. Purpose vs. Profit: A Hypocritical Claim They boldly claim to prioritise purpose over profit. However, last year, when PwC laid off employees due to its involvement in a tax scandal, Nous opportunistically cited that outlier event, along with the Israel-Gaza conflict, as an absolute reflection of the economic downturn. Within two weeks of the conflict, they fired 8% of their staff, with more redundancies following. While this may be capitalism at work, it contradicts their rhetoric of being a “purpose-driven” consulting firm who takes care of their employees, especially when they continued hiring senior people after these rounds of layoffs and spent millions on extravagant events such as Nous Days, leadership offsites, and other parties.
