      Pros

This is the first job I ever had that made me feel like more than just an employee, they make you feel like family. The training and trainers where some of the kindest and patient people I have ever met. They made the process fun and enjoyable. They have great benefits and pay with bonuses and a lot of other perks. They have plenty of room for advancement and other opportunities arise all the time. The work environment is fun, and it gives you a feeling of appreciation. I highly recommend them as a place of employment for anyone.

      Pros

Ha. None. Use to be a decent company but they gave up on decency.

      Cons

This company favors nepotism and bad managers/employees. They spend all their time putting out fires instead of preventing them. They promise full training but then only train on windshields, the rest of the glass you're left to use YouTube to try and figure it out on your own; you're also punished if you screw it up. They lure you in with high pay but after training they're unrealistic expectations make the pay no where near worth it. There are no bonus programs anymore, no incentives to perform at high levels, and the benefits have been slashed worse than the girl from Scream. There is no work life balance unless you're one of the favorites. There is no culture, only a demand for integrity that the company itself doesn't even meet. They claim they want leaders but really they want yes men. And I do mean men. Oh they'll hire women and promote just enough so they look like they aren't sexist but women are extremely under valued and underpaid. At least when Feeny was CEO there were some perks to this company. Renee has completely ruined the handful of decent things that did make this company worth selling your body for.

      Pros

There are a lot of good people that work for this company. Hard workers. There are a lot of benefits and discounts available. Annual bonuses. Weekly pay

      Cons

Low work life balance. Outdated systems. Over worked management. Unnecessary redundant processes. 6 day a week schedule is the norm. The business is closed on Sunday, if not it would mostly likely be 7. Bonuses should be at minimum quarterly. No one should have to wait a whole year to be rewarded for going above and beyond. Inventory is done by pen and paper. Why???

The culture within HR and TA has changed dramatically.

      Pros

Many teammates are genuinely dedicated and care deeply about the mission. Pay and benefits are competitive, and the company provides strong tools and systems. When leadership is present and supportive, the work can be meaningful and high-impact.

      Cons

Senior & Executive Leadership engagement has become strictly performative. Attempts to connect with the team come across as symbolic rather than sincere, like 15 min "getting to know you" meetings scheduled months out that do little to build real relationships. It shouldn't be such a chore to have a connection with your skip level leader especially as the size of the team has dwindled so much. There are canceled 1 on 1s, no annual meetings for PLD. It's become completely siloed. Leadership is purely ego driven. Some leaders in particular are rarely around but still drive performance decisions, creating a disconnect that’s obvious to everyone but rarely acknowledged broadly. It's become a joke about how much PTO some leaders take and how disengaged they are. KPIs and metrics change constantly, and perception often outweighs actual results. It can feel less about performance and more about fitting a narrow leadership mold. Performance reviews and PIPs are used less for coaching and more for quietly managing people out in all areas of the business, sometimes those who were strong performers simply doing things differently. People are performance managed out and their positions planned to be backfilled or eliminated well before they're aware this is happening. Lots of retroactive case building which is terrible for morale. The rapid push toward automation and AI has replaced people faster than the organization can responsibly implement the technology. The rollouts are sloppy, training is minimal, and the extra work often falls to those left behind. The recent wave of changes has driven away some truly solid performers, people who were great for culture, collaboration, and stability. Those who didn’t fit the new mold have moved on, and honestly, it’s hard to blame them. There are NO opportunities for growth in PLD, Multiple positions and levels have been eliminated and there's no growth track in this space at all. There are almost no opportunities to cross train or get exposure to other functions, so you better love your role because you're staying in it for the long haul.

Safelite Culture has Gone Down the Tubes

      Senior analyst
      Former employee
      Columbus, OH
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Decent pay for corporate roles

      Cons

Over the last few years, Safelite culture has significantly deteriorated due to private owners pushing unreasonably hard for excessive profits, and leaders unwilling or unable to advocate for their employees. A typical day at the home office was extremely stressful for no real reason other than corporate greed at its finest. Delivering massive improvements to the bottom line year over year is simply not enough for this company - not enough to provide decent benefits, not enough to offer wage increases that align with inflation in the American economy, etc. Executive leadership lacks vision, and spends most of their time pivoting to respond to immediate "problems" rather than committing to a true roadmap for success. As an individual contributor, it was nearly impossible to complete a project that was worthwhile. I spent the majority of time working on initiatives that either took 6-12 months to roll out, or were never implemented at all. Additionally, it was entirely impossible to gain clarity around how to grow within the company, or even how to achieve a decent annual review. The company is extremely top heavy, and leaders at this company are forced to fight it out for department budgets each year. For this reason, the only people who can climb the ladder at Safelite are the ones who appear to be the smartest person in the room. Leaders hide behind power structures, unnecessarily confusing autoglass vocabulary, difficult to understand - let alone achieve - key performance indicators, and huge egos - not actual intelligence or ability to achieve anything meaningful. These attitudes were reflected in hiring and firing decisions as well. I made it through at least 3 significant rounds of layoffs (if not more), and had 4 different VP's over my 3 years with the company - seemingly because new leaders simply weren't liked - probably because they were not as toxic as everyone else. This was a huge red flag for me, as I believe innovation cannot occur without differing perspectives in the room. Lastly, the home office is currently undergoing a ridiculous renovation that leaders claim was "the most prudent option", however, I cannot fathom how building a massive bridge between 2 buildings that are already connected at the ground floor was the most viable financial option in any scenario. Additionally, workers have been forced to endure an office under construction for months on end in 2025, and are being mandated to return to office 4 days per week in 2026 after 4+ years of flexible hybrid schedules. To top it all off, this strategy is being implemented via a full-on propaganda campaign claiming "this is what employees want." Anecdotally, it was pretty clear to me that workers didn't want this. If you're applying or interviewing here, do yourself a favor and don't.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Work from home, benefits, 7 hour shifts.

      Cons

The way they want you to sell wipers and then commission on the wipers and other products is insane. They want you to push the products even if the customer already stated they had it. They also want you to force the customer into schedule appointments with the company even if the customer is not a 100% sure if they are wanting to use Safelite and the customers see right through it. Which makes the customer frustrated. Especially, when they are only looking for a quote and spoke w/ other companies and they didn't felt force.
