Pros
HR Processes are streamlined, pays, benefits, leaves, are easy to process, company is big so policies on HR are set
Cons
None HR processes are not set in sales, operations, etc. Anything can change in an instant.
Pros
People working with is within fresh age-group End to end kind of work Expected to be able to handle own work
Cons
Change in managers, and managers are too often (every year there's a change in management) No trust in current talent, keeps on hiring outside talent for management positions
Pros
The company as a whole was okay! They do things like celebrations during the festivities and Shopee Birthday celebrations in the office, which were nice.
Cons
In Shopee Asia, they pride themselves on being the company that likes to hire fresh grads, but they never mention to them the high turnover rate! For the first month I was there, there were probably 10 people who left, and that was the first month alone! I keep seeing people who rate 5 stars and are located in the US, so maybe that's true, but is it SO different here in Asia. DON'T BE FOOLED! They set unattainable expectations within the department, and I had a manager who was a "yes man" and couldn't tell upper management that those goals were unattainable so guess who had to suffer long hours and tedious repetitive tasks? The interview process was easy, but now I feel like they do that on purpose! Like you'd have no clue about the actual job scope during the interview (even though I asked), but they just gloss over it. And when you're actually working for them you'll feel the weight of all the responsibilities crashing down! Run just RUN!
Pros
Not much pros to think of, really
Cons
1. Hierarchical - instructions were given from above and no questions are to be asked or clarified otherwise you will be flagged out as the "black sheep", you just had to simply follow. 2. Micro-management - my boss micro-managed me hardcore. 3. Strict work from office policy - have to tap in and out, so your exact time is tracked in an attendance app and the systems flags out if you are late or worked lesser hours cause you turn up slightly late. Timings are only recorded once you reached the level that you are based in. A lot of employees are staying later than working hours just for the sake of "clocking the hours" and not getting flagged. To get to toilet, you would need to tap out twice and technically, toilet timings are recorded too. 4. Poor leadership from direct boss - my boss was a new leader with no leadership experience hence I suffered a poor experience. She was a micro-manager. Often, she is overly emotional and I had to always be mindful of her emotions, be overly sensitive to her, and sugarcoat my words. Felt like I had to walk on eggshells. A lot of how things are done currently is because "this is how things were done in the past" as I was told and no further questions were to be asked or challenged yet I was expected to "give ideas on how to improve" which is quite contradicting. My every movement and work was tracked and she sat in every meeting with me so that she can monitor me although her role in the meeting was questionable. Probably one of the worst manager I have experienced in my years of experience. 5. Typical Chinese company that hires and fires - this is a company that will sell you the idea that they were hiring because of the volume that they are expecting, the company is profitable and stable, and yet a lot of movements were going on in the background. Due to change in headcount numbers and "business direction" and a lot of silent firing of employees who just been here for a few months 6. Unhealthy competition - my boss encouraged and built a competitive environment whereby colleagues in the same team are competing with each other instead of building rapport and fostering synergies 7. Company that is filled with a certain type of employees (CN, VN) so... you are automatically at a huge disadvantage unless you are one of them
Pros
Open space to develop your skills and to create new projects
Cons
The company grew so fast that they lost their level bar of quality when it comes to hiring new employees
Pros
Basic is ok and fine
Cons
Selection and recruitment is unfair. All is insider. Normally posting is useless. Waste time for outsider. Even a talent people no chance to interview
Pros
If you wanna change career path and do not have relevant past experience or skillsets, this is the right place for change career. Shopee's HR team does not have much existing SOPs for quality controls: - if they are in hurry of hiring, the HR will push any candidates to the hiring manager without much checking. - The HR team will not do any background checks - The HR team does not have performance checks A very good example - a scientist with a MBA degree with zero marketing experience can be a marketing lead.
Cons
Shopee had massive hirings during covid that allowed lots of under and unqualified people entering the company. Many qualified employees left Shopee after covid and shopee's business slowed down. No SOPs were set up and teams were left to the underqualified and unqualified employees to run. These people cover each other's incompetencies and worked purely based on imagination and have little respect to market and industry practices. Thus, their work is inefficient but there is no proper performance review for projects and most of time, projects are not even reviewed. When stakeholders questions about the poor results, the managers will blame it on tight manpower instead of their own lack of professional knowledge and basic industry experiences.

Salary is not that competitive.
