Pros
Interview and hiring process was quick and easy. The HR representative Aica was always responsive if I needed something during the process. There is a great remote culture established. Good product, good benefits, and good work/life balance.
Cons
No cons have been noticed so far.
Pros
One of the standout things about working here is the company’s genuine commitment to employee development. There are always new initiatives, learning opportunities, and support for both professional and personal growth. From structured career development frameworks to access to mentoring, it's clear the business wants people to thrive, not just "do the job." Benefits and perks are reviewed regularly and always seem to be moving in the right direction. Recent improvements have shown Star is listening to employee feedback, it’s encouraging to see employee wellbeing being taken seriously and actively invested in.
Cons
With growth and constant improvements, things can move quickly and change often, which can sometimes feel a little reactive rather than planned. Communication around change could be clearer at times.
Pros
- great people to work with. Absolutely everyone is friendly, kind and supportive. It makes coming to work an absolute joy! - growing company with opportunities for professional development. - Improving company benefits with a recent pension scheme change. - Great focus on mental health with passionate mental health first aiders. I feel my personal wellbeing is important.
Cons
No company is perfect but there are not many points to criticise at Star. - Star needs to put their focus more on enabling a work-life balance. Work hours need updating to modern standards and a compensation for extra hours worked is required. People work hard and need to feel appreciated for that. Nobody is doing it for free. Flexible hours around core hours to suit company and employee needs are key. - Management skills need improving. - The benefit package is getting better but there is room for improvement.
Pros
There are so many pros working at StarCompliance: -Great people and culture - A lot of projects happening so plenty of room for personal growth - Progression and promotion opportunities (I was recently promoted so I can say this happens!) - Regular salary reviews - New benefits being changed and introduced - Chief execs are approachable and you will work with them on a daily basis - Although predominantly remote, there are plenty of social opportunities to meet colleagues in person.
Cons
None so far - keep it up!
Pros
-Friendly teams - The team I got brought into is pretty friendly, ESPECIALLY the higher-ups. They are actually really nice and do what they can to help and don't look down on you which is amazing. - RECOGNITION FOR TOUGH WORK! - When working overtime and working on a tough project, I found that it definitely does not go unnoticed and they actually appreciate your efforts. - very positive recruitment process thanks to Aica Raffi! Shes super friendly and explains the whole process thoroughly. She also makes you feel very comfortable as some times it can be initmidating..shes the opposite! - Free food when there are occasions in the office! This is a bonus. - Free parking when on site! - although there are limited parking spaces, there are free spots for Star Compliance employees which is brilliant. - Universe of learning tools! - there are a number of tools that can be used to learn new things. especially a website called Plurasight which can be great to learn new things from and grow as a QA.
Cons
- Really high-pressure and fast-paced environment... at times it can feel overbearing BUT there are always people you can reach out to. - Some of the benefits could be better. e.g. last I asked, I was told when you need new glasses they only provide £10 towards it
Pros
People in the business are genuinely lovely and does make for easy interactions. There is a lot of collaborative working even in a remote setting. Remote/Hybrid working. Pay increase
Cons
Constant change in management and structure. (Not always communicated) Not consistent in benefits provided. Managers around the business receive a bonus which wasn't communicated or I have never been given. Pay increase not aligned to cost of living
Pros
It's a really forward looking organisation, you are encouraged to embrace AI which is refreshing, and also share your use cases with others. Most teams are working in new tech, there are a few that aren't but there are plans to move them forward. The roadmap is shared regularly - the product team has improved massively since a new Chief Product Officer joined Star last year. Benefits have improved a lot in recent years. The summer of wellness is a great perk - Friday 1pm finishes in Summer and fitness challenges are fun too. There are also opportunities to travel between US and UK, and also India and Poland depending on your role. There are lots of training opportunities you can put your hand up for and encouraged to work cross-departmentally. A few of the team have recently moved over to work on our Crypto product which is a pretty cool space to get into. There are some highly skilled people in the tech space who are great to work with. The best thing is the people and the culture. York office events are fun when they happen, but most people are home workers most of the time. There is a core gang that go into the office if that's what you're looking for. You will get lots of offers of help if you need it, and all you have to do is ask and people drop everything to support you.
Cons
It is not perfect of course, but where is? There is tech debt to address, and some processes are clunky. It's refreshing that there is definitely appetite to change those things. At certain points in the calendar depending what you're working on, it can get demanding as we need to meet our goals and delivery dates, but most of the time life work balance is good.
Pros
Incredibly fast and respectful Hiring process. From application to job offer was 8 days with 3 interviews. Collaborative culture. The team has multiple touch points each day for members to share knowledge and discuss active tickets, allowing for quick resolution of issues. I never feel afraid to ask questions, and the time between these meetings gives me time to resolve many issues on my own. Friendly team. Everyone on the team has been pleasant to work with. There's a very personable atmosphere that makes it easy to relax, coordinate with the team, and get work done. Reasonable expectations. Management sets reasonable goals and expectations for work, and offers flexibility where needed based on circumstances. I.e. the goal for the week may be 10 ticket closures, but if you got 5 tickets that were all complex, you hit the goal. Great pay and benefits. The PTO is generous, and the pay exceeded my expectations. No complaints. They promote from within. I've seen multiple director level employees who started as developers within Star. It's always a good sign when a company promotes from within
Cons
No clear coding standards. This is being worked on, but the code can be a bit messy in places.
Pros
Close-knit culture, Skilled professionals across the board, Seasoned team members.
Cons
Benefits are increasing but when i first started was basic.
Pros
Work / life balance is great with 100% no pressure voluntary overtime available. Great benefits/ tech scheme / bupa etc Good team dynamics even though remote , able to skill up a person without rely too heavily on micro managing
Cons
only been here 4 months so far and have no cons so far.
