      An Okay Job

      Academic success coordinator
      Current employee
      Boston, MA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Flexible, offers good hours and ease of scheduling.

      Cons

Very low pay, lack of communication, lack of students being assigned timely.

      Decent tutoring work

      Tutor
      Current contractor
      Washington, DC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Solid curriculum and good enough training to start. Homework and scheduling system is awesome, very easy to use, so there's minimal extra work outside of tutoring hours. The pay rate is just okay to start, but I was able to negotiate raises after a few successful programs. They always pay me on time and my manager / program director is an absolute pleasure to work with. I never met anyone at the company in person; it's all via email. Great job if you're in grad school or looking to supplement income, because you can choose your hours.

      Cons

Pay is lower than more elite tutoring firms or independent tutoring. Training is only by prerecorded videos, so you'll really have to teach yourself the finer details of the SAT and what students typically need help with if you want to be successful

      Decent but low pay

      Cons

Pay is low and there is low recognition for your efforts

      Great Place to Work

      Tutor
      Current employee
      America

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

They find the students, provide the curriculum, provide the platform, and support tutors along the way through programs.

      Cons

Low hourly rate to start- raises come yearly.

      Great Tutoring Company

      Academic tutor
      Current employee
      Washington, DC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Very flexible schedule, materials are provided and the curriculum is easy to follow, staff is very kind, tutoring online can be done with or without video. Overall, everything is smooth and streamlined.

      Cons

Pay is not great. Salary increases occur too rarely given the amount of hours one can put in in a year. Also, tutors are promoted with a cost of $100 or more per hour, but really, tutors may be paid less than 20% of that amount. Makes the company appear to not have integrity.
