What are perks and other benefits like at THG?

      THG reviews

      I strongly do NOT recommend.

      Marketing
      Current employee
      Manchester, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Trying really hard to think of one

      Cons

No benefits, apart from the minimal maternity and annual required by law. They give very high titles to very inexperienced people at very low salaries. Bonuses are a lie, almost impossible to qualify. Once I got one that was 1% of my salary, very demotivating. Not a very diverse or inclusive company. They used to ask us to fake review products on their websites, so probably positive reviews here are fake too. Every employee made redundant only gets statutory. They give discounts on everything, but all their websites are full of discounts for non-employees anyway.

      Pros

Great benefits for example staff discount on all sites, 25 days of annual leave with an additional day for your birthday. Everyone is inviting and the place has a good feel to it

      Cons

Sometimes when issues are raised regarding improvements to the workplace they do feel disregarded at times.

      Trying but failing

      Marketing
      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Some attempts made at improving culture and how they treat employees; however, most of it has fallen short of any meaningful change or tangible benefits.

      Cons

No value on 'how' things are done. The only thing that matters is the bottom line. Companies of course exist to be profitable but when the cost is even a baseline sense of ethics it hardly feels worth it.

Let down by Management and Processes

      Anonymous
      Former employee
      Manchester, England

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Built on my skills within my role due to my own work ethic, exposure to SLT and good L&D sessions to better yourself within the workplace. - Great freebies from beauty and nutrition brands, as well as staff discount.

      Cons

      - It is all about who you know / if you are liked by higher management to gain promotions and recognition for your work. I was told that I could work towards a promotion within a year of joining, and despite working extremely hard to hit my KPI’s, I was told I could not be promoted due to larger business factors that were completely out of my control, crushing my motivation. - HR teams consist of under qualified employees who are under a lot of pressure, so processes are not followed accordingly. Also felt they were quite cliquey, and when raising a problem with them it wasn’t kept confidential or looked after with respect. I had to use compassionate leave during my time at THG due to losing a family member, and was horrified when returning to work due to the way I was treated and made to feel. - Matthew Moulding does not budge on employee benefits or supporting culture, with no movement on flexible working no matter why you may need it. This causes a culture within the business that you do not stay a minute past your finishing time at the end of the day as your personal time is too important to give up for a company who are not compassionate towards your time. Having an office so far out of Manchester and expecting staff to commute in 5 days a week is absolutely absurd. - 3 waves of redundancies during my time at THG, as higher up want to reduce costs, seeing very talented employees lose their jobs, leaving the remaining teams understaffed and overworked. This is while all Managers park up at the front of the office in their 6-figure cars, who never seem to be affected by the redundancies. - Management / higher level is very top heavy, seeing a lot of SLT members on very high salaries whilst no one really knows what they do day to day. Lower levels are constantly burnt out due to demand levels and lack of support.

      Pros

Career progression, knowledge sharing culture, work life balance, flexible working schedule

      Cons

Low pension contribution and lacking other benefits.

      Good team, awful organisation

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Strategy team members; Young people

      Cons

No benefits, no flexibility - have to go to the office (that is in the middle of nowhere) 5 days a week, incompetent SLT that needs training on emotional intelligence and management, racist SLT, no budget for anything (even coffee)

      Pros

Brilliant company, great benefits and lots of opportunity

      Cx specialist
      Current employee

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

I love the benefits on offer, the tech and cycle schemes are great and easy to sign up for. We also can use our in house doctor and barber which save a lot of time. There are lots of progression opportunities and everybody's opinion is always welcome when making decisions.

      Cons

Car parking can be a little bit of a pain at some time but leaving a couple minutes earlier seems to do the job.

      Great place to work

      Pros

      Cons

Not a lot I can think of some companies may offer better/different benefits and bonus schemes but the positives out win the negatives.
