What is overtime like at Valeo?

      Valeo reviews

      good place to start

      Pros

you'll get to know how the automotive industry works, good place to start but don't stay for long, benefits are ok,

      Cons

you're probably not going to learn a lot of best practices, salary for devs is quite low compared to the industry as it's paid by the projects not the company itself so they skimp as much as they can to keep a profitable bottom line, "flexible" work hours but you have to clock in between 9am and 3pm, no food options nearby aside from the cafeteria in the building, overtime doesn't carry over to the next year and they only pay hours after you've accumulated 150hours any negative hours you have will carry to the next year

      Pros

Valeo's culture is rooted in our core values of ethics, transparency, empowerment, professionalism and teamwork as well as our 5 axes for operational excellence. We believe in creating respectful and inclusive workplaces founded on these values.

      Cons

Bad Management and there is no career options No work life balance Work on weekends and overtime No appreciation from the management

Good overall but feeling stuck right now

      Pros

Decent pay, good work life balance, overtime sometimes, overall not super stressful job.

      Cons

Past 2 years the company has been downsizing people, benefits have been reduced, no GC sponsorships anymore, overtime is straight not 1.5x or 2x, some machinery is very old, Technicians struggle a lot troubleshooting the machinery.

Used to be a great place to work

      Business Outlook

      Pros

There is no denying valeo is the biggest player in the automotive sw field in Egypt, so by working there you'll get a perfect exposure to the market and its standards in a way not available in other companies

      Cons

It's very hard to get over time compensation now, no more hiring new people, long hours and management that adopt the strategies of the wise leader much like El sisi is a wise leader. Yes there is competition from China, but the way the company is run now doesn't encourage good talent to grow and prosper

      Not sure of a future

      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

They are not working 7 days a week 12 hours a day anymore. The pay is not bad and actually get OT for working OT as straight time but only up to 10 hours a week.

      Cons

Company has downsized from about 2100 to 900 in a few years. No new business coming in either. Not sure the company can survive on OES much longer and some of the bigger lines are about to go OES as well. Not sure there is a bright future here if there is any future at all for this company. They have let go lots of good workers to just "trim the fat" and never know if that next cut could be you.

      Pros

      Cons

Poor upper management No overtime, time in lieu is poor. Culture of management expecting workers to work extra hours.

      Valeo Egypt - Brain Division

      Software engineer
      Current employee
      Cairo, Cairo Governorate
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Working with somewhat new tech in some projects. - The work environment is fine (it is getting worse now, but still fine). But for "Brain" division, the work environment is not fine at all.

      Cons

      - The management needs a huge improvement effort. - Managers and team leaders force the engineers to spend overtime and weekends (unpaid), saying it is "business needs"; otherwise, your appraisal will be "below expectations". - There is no chance to grow as managers, and HR do not even care about the employees' growth. - Work-life balance is a wish now because of the bad management.

Great Benefits but Alot of hours

      Team leader
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great Benefits, and really good Pay Rates especially as a Team Leader. If you are a hard worker and apply yourself to the job, the supervisors are really good about promoting you from an operator to a team leader position, or even an offline team leader and it is even possible to advance from being a team leader to a supervisor. They pay double time on Sundays and time and a half for anything over 40 hours and if you work a holiday you recieve triple pay.

      Cons

Usually almost always work 7 days a week and you only get 5 days which equals to only 40 hours of call in hours for you to miss each year and it does not start over until the 1st day of the month following your birthday month. You do start out with 2 weeks of paid vacation days and you recieve more vacation hours every 5 years you get an additional week of vacation hours up to the maximum of 5 weeks of paid vacation. Not only are you almost always scheduled to work 7 days a week but they also do not post the schedule for whether or not your line is scheduled to work the weekends until Thursday night each week so its almost impossible to plan anything with your family on the weekends ahead of time.
