What is working from home like at Verkada?

      Let us work hybrid

      Pros

Peers at Verkdada are genuine and thoughtful. The workplace team tries hard to make the office fun. The in-person life is only bearable because of the free lunch and snacks. Commuter benefits of $200 for FTEs are also decent, but usually do not cover the full cost of commuting.

      Cons

Many of us who don’t live in San Mateo county commute at least two hours a day. That’s roughly 40 extra hours a month just to sit under HQ’s fluorescent lights. Yes, they feed you—but after weeks of commute exhaustion, it really starts to make a hybrid setup feel reasonable. The frustrating part is that VPs expect five days a week in the office, while they themselves average two. And if you need to work from home for even a day, you’re made to feel guilty for it. At times, the mandatory five-day in-person policy feels more like a way to use employees as free test subjects for their cameras than a collaboration.

      Pros

Verkada went through an entire transformation and refresh in 2024 and the business couldn't be anymore different. The newly formed JAPAC Leadership team is strong with a lot of tenured individuals, the sales team is solid and generally performing, marketing works well and people love our product. The perks are great (expense lunch everyday + travel). Endless growth potential, company is growing.

      Cons

5 days is a grind but if the need is there to wfh for a delivery/doctor etc so you can. So its rigid but the minor flex + perks make it all worthwhile.

Literal Dumpster fire - don't be fooled by this sham of a company

      Pros

free food, some people are cool, good parties for holidays/sko

      Cons

      - No job security: leadership will fire you regardless of being on a PIP or not to save themselves. My entire sales org either left or (majority) got fired during my tenure. There is no room for career advancement unless you are blessed with one of the 3 good territories. - Zero WFH leniency: doesn't matter if your parent is dying or your house caught on fire yesterday. You'll be in the office tomorrow, or guilted about it. Several coworkers came in with the flu or COVID as there was no option otherwise. - Unattainable quotas: the quotas are not set from a historical analysis of the territory. The territories are split geographically and there are set quotas across the board for all of sales. It does not matter if the quota in the territory has never been hit - they will split this patch down the middle, give it to a new rep wrapped in a platinum bow, and tell them to chase the "limitless opportunity".. despite there never being previous success. - Bro culture galore: the leadership team is enthralled by the bro-iest bros who have seem to be the only reps with job security. The girls that thrive are pick-me's. It's honestly embarrassing the way the leaders (especially the women leaders) speak with the bros on the floor. Senior leadership sees this culture as ideal as they dream of living out the life they never could in college. - False promises of a change of culture since the publicity scandal: misogyny runs thick on the sales floor and throughout the office. Now everyone's just forced to speak under their breath.
