If you’re considering joining Wolseley UK, do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. The company is in a constant state of confusion, decline, and denial — and employees are the ones paying
There is no strategy, no stability, and no sense of where the business is going. Priorities change weekly, leaders contradict each other, and teams are left guessing what they’re supposed to be doing. It’s chaos dressed up as “transformation.”
If you enjoy working somewhere where your role, team, or boss changes every few months, you’ll love it here. Everyone else will find it exhausting. Restructures happen so often that people don’t even react anymore — they just wait for the next one.
The leadership team is a revolving door:
• 3 Chief Executives in 4 years
• 3 Chief People Officers in 3 years
• General Counsel has disappeared - is he still in the business? Who knows?
• Chief Technology Officer demoted.
• Chief Operating Officer left abruptly.
• MD demoted
Leaders go missing, resign, or get reshuffled with zero transparency. Employees are left to piece together rumours because communication simply doesn’t exist.
No employee survey in 3 years - And it’s obvious why: they already know what the results would say. Morale is low, trust is gone, and people are burnt out. Rather than listen, they avoid asking the questions.
Every year employees fall further behind financially - no bonus/limited pay increases and no change to the rubbish benefits. Also you lose 4 days of the pitiful entitlement for Christmas shutdown.
Systems are old, slow, unreliable, and patched together. Basic tasks take twice as long as they should. Digital transformation is talked about endlessly but never happens.
People are afraid to speak up because nothing changes — or worse, it backfires. The company talks about values, but none of them show in how people are treated.
Wolseley UK is a business stuck in the past, run by leaders who aren’t present, don’t communicate, and don’t seem to care about the people keeping the place running.
