What are perks and other benefits like at pOpshelf?

      Dollar General in disguise

      Store team leader (stl)

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Store culture, benefits, clean remodeled stores

      Cons

The pay is awful. When pOpshelf first opened its doors payroll was manageable and reasonable. Over a year when company started cutting payroll and adding more “tasks” and asks, it was hard to keep good employees due to hours being dramatically cut. Think 154 hours per week…many times employees were in the store for a few hours by themselves, or only two in the morning or evenings. I started to realize that they were easing into Dollar General ways and I was naive to believe they were going to run pOpshelf stores differently. Even with those few hours given, you were demanded to send help to other stores, sometimes in other states, for weeks at a time. There was no incentive for this and employees hated it. Even with the low pay I would have been willing to stay at pOpshelf had it been the company I started with.

      It's a very average job.

      Cons

No additional benefits from working there

      Pros

Recognition by district and divisional managers. Good benefits. Great pay for team members

      Cons

Freight replenishment Process needs help. Wish there were more opportunities promotion beyond STL without moving to Tennessee.

      Good hours but toxic workplace

      Team leader
      Former employee
      Mooresville, NC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

-Good hours -good benefits -lots of traning

      Cons

-toxic workplace culture where they claim to have an open door policy but management did not take possible HR complaints of discrimination seriously - no flexibility

      Run far... far away

      Assistant team leader
      Former employee
      Columbia, SC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Not hard work. Associates are nice.

      Cons

No employee discount. Store manager only cared about her schedule. She took priority in time off and made everyone else revolve around her. No weekends off, because Store Manager had the weekends off. Benefits sucked. Promised full-time 40 hours, only got 30 a week.

It is dollar general in a purple mask

      Assistant manager
      Former employee
      Austin, TX
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

A handful of my coworkers were wonderful. They do have benefits but they're not the greatest.

      Cons

No employee discount Retaliation via cutting hours and hostile workplace and lies One of the sales associates tried to get me fired after I had to write her up (she went to starbucks on the clock for an hour and a half) by calling corporate and pretended to be an upset customer saying I was drunk and drugged out at work, she was dumb enough to use her personal number so when my manager went to call the "customer" for more details it was easy to figure out since that was the number she used for the group chat. When that didnt work they started putting nails in my tires (I dont have solid proof but it happened 6 times, with a total 11 nails through out a 2 month time frame, always only happened driving home after working with said employee and I have not had any flat tires since I quit 4 months ago, so 95% sure it was them) didnt fire her and forced me to work alone with her constantly. They do not take the safety of their employees or customers seriously, the only thing that matters is that the corporate hags get their money. Basically go read the r/ dollargeneralworkers reddit page and that is exactly what working for popshelf is like, the only difference is DG wears black and yellow and popshelf wears purple. Unrealistic labor goals, expecting one to two people doing the work of 4-5 people. A good manager is rare, only one of the 4 managers I worked with was competent and a pleasure to work with.
