Sales Associate - Inside Sales Interview

      Jan 30, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Saint Louis, MO
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at 42Floors (Saint Louis, MO) in Jan 2017

      Interview

The interview was exactly how everyone else described it and I don't view that as a bad thing. It was very straight forward on what was expected of you and the process is very simple. The only thing that feels odd to me is the selling of their own product back to the company. I understand it on many levels, but as someone who has been in sales their entire working career it feels odd. There are so many factors that can affect whether a sales call is successful or not, but they do a good job of viewing the interview itself on how well you present the material to them and remove those potential factors from the process. I will say I made a big mistake by not remembering the price of the product. It was clearly said in material that was provided to me, but I did not remember nor write it down and had to ask the CEO the price point in the middle of the interview which was a huge error on my part and I'm sure hurt my chances of an offer. Overall, I liked the interview experience and found it refreshing. If you have an interest in the company and are given a chance to interview, I would encourage you to do so. It truly feels like everyone is given a fair and unbiased opportunity for a job with the company.

Hey this is Jason! Thanks for positive review even though you didn't get the offer. Yes, you did forget the price of our product and that was enough to bump you down out of the top percentile. Feel free to reapply! Running an interview process is really hard because almost everyone COULD be good. I remember your interview well and I bet you would eventually nail it with a little more practice. The reality is we have to draw the line somewhere so forgetting the price was enough to move you below some others that had flawless pitches. But if you do decide to apply again, we generally like persistence :)
