      Marketing Associate Interview

      Aug 6, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Olathe, KS
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at AAPC Publishing (Olathe, KS) in May 2014

      Interview

My overall impression is that this company is appallingly unprofessional. There is a difference between "casual" and "unprofessional," and they fall into the latter. I was interviewed by 4 people and only 2 of them seemed to have even looked at my resume. They spent more time describing the position (like a sales pitch) than asking about my qualifications. There was a lot of talk in the interview about performing sales tasks, such as "warm" calling people. When I was called back 2 days later, I was basically told that this "marketing" position would be a sales position first, marketing second. I declined to return for a second interview. It felt like a bait and switch, which was insulting and frustrating. Then I read the reviews, and I knew I made the right decision.

      Marketing Associate Interview

      Aug 18, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Lenexa, KS
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at AAPC Publishing (Lenexa, KS) in Feb 2016

      Interview

The process was casual and straightforward. I prefer a casual setting for job interviews to make it less nerve-wracking... so that is a benefit to me, whereas some other interviewees posting here did not like that (not sure why). The panel asked about the different experiences on my resume and I responded. Quick and to the point -- when I have interviewed people to fill open position, I can always size up a candidate in the first 5 minutes unless someone takes longer to warm up due to nerves. I appreciated that the interview was fairly quick and respectful of my time. I asked a few questions and received an offer shortly after. You can never really tell until after someone has started how they will act in a job environment, so I think interviews are a quick judgment of someone's personality and experience for the position. Beyond that, your luck is about as good as a blind date for both parties. I consider myself lucky that this position worked out!

      Marketing Associate Interview

      Mar 19, 2012
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Overland Park, KS
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at AAPC Publishing (Overland Park, KS) in Mar 2012

      Interview

I was called in for an interview. I googled mapped the location and the picture of the building was very sketchy and I contemplated not going. I went anyway and it was confirmed- this 'multimillion dollar' publishing company is run out of an old house. The employees all dress like they are at home on the couch watching reruns of desperate housewives. They asked me no questions and basically pitched me the job as if I was interviewing them. I was told at the interview that they would call me that afternoon with an offer, it was said "I want to hire you". Two days later, the job was reposted online. No response to my follow up emails either. The brand image of the company is so bad and I don't think the employees care. When you are in such a delicate and caring field like autism publishing, you would think your company would care about their own image. It should have been a sign when the Marketing Manager said "my last marketing associate left 2 days after I started working here with no notice"
