I was told by a current server that if I emailed their supervisor and dropped their name I was pretty much guaranteed a position. Then I was told all I had to do was apply online and then show up at the job fair to get a job. That also wasn't true. I sat there for over THREE HOURS waiting to be interviewed because people were not being called up in the order they got there/applied. And even calling it an interview is being generous. The "interviewer" just stared at me and said nothing until I asked her questions. As it turns out, they didn't even have server positions open. I had applied for a job online and then waited to be interviewed to find out it wasn't even available. They said I could be a food runner, but that would require working all the mandatory games (there are a ton, including Thanksgiving) and only receiving tips if the server decides to give you some of theirs. Otherwise, you make $14/hr. Many of the people around me also wanted to be servers, so that means they let literally hundreds of people waste our entire days waiting for a job that wasn't even on the table in the first place. The whole process was a massive waste of time, and I highly recommend avoiding it.
