      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ActiveCampaign (Chicago, IL) in Sep 2017

      Interview

Received an email to secure a phone interview as the first step. Phone interview with HR lasted about 30 minutes. HR contact indicated my resume would be passed on to the manager and I would be contacted if they wanted to move further. About two weeks later I received a nice rejection email from the person I did the phone interview with.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at ActiveCampaign

      Interview

My interview experience at ActiveCampaign was both wonderfully pleasant and incredibly difficult. Everyone I spoke with at the company was friendly, engaged, passionate, and genuinely interested in what I had to say. That being said, ActiveCampaign had a serious problem in regards to communicating with me and providing a concrete timeline for next steps. I was contacted by the recruiter during the last week of September 2017. We scheduled a phone screen for the following week, which would be the first week of October. The phone screen was pretty basic, nothing anyone hasn't experienced before. One week later, I received a rejection email. The next day, I received an email inviting me in for an interview. Weird, but worked out in my favor. The in-person interview was scheduled for two weeks after that, placing the interview a full four weeks after the first email reach out. The interview itself was lovely, and actually kind of fun. There are four, 30-minute sessions with different members of the customer success team and the HR department. The next day, I was invited to participate in a mock phone call. The mock phone call was scheduled for the next week, which was the first week of November. It had been nearly six weeks since the initial email from the recruiter. The mock phone call was great. You are asked to basically guide a new client through Gmail, so they can get a feel for how you are on the phone. I felt it went well, and I was told to expect a decision within a day or two. Then, nothing. For two weeks. I send an email to the recruiter asking for a follow up. It takes three days to receive a response. A week goes by with no communication. I email again. I did not receive a response. Finally, four weeks after my mock call, I received a general rejection email. From beginning to end, this interview process took nine weeks. The actual in-person interview was great. Probably one of the best interviews I've been through. The wait between steps, the lack of communication, and the seemingly total disregard for timeliness are unacceptable and unprofessional. From what I can tell, ActiveCampaign is up to their eyeballs in dedicated, passionate, kind, hard-working people. It really does seems like a great place to be. But this interview process was beyond frustrating.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ActiveCampaign (Chicago, IL) in Jul 2017

      Interview

The interview started off pretty standard. I applied online and received a request for a phone interview with the next available slot a week later. The phone interview lasted about a half hour, with a mixture of situational and experience based questions. A week and a half later there was a request for an in person interview, which lasted four half hour rounds. A week and a half after that I received an email letting me know they were no longer considering me for the role. What struck me is the lack of accessibility from HR/recruiting during the process. It is very clear they are going through a hiring burst that they are not staffed to handle, as it is impossible to receive a response when asking for feedback or a hiring timeline. After dragging out the process, it is important to consider your candidates as they balance other offers and interviews. (And please get rid of the typos in your rejection email!)
