      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ad Hoc (DC) in Jun 2024

      Interview

Applied online, with an employee referral, took several weeks to hear from a recruiter, and even then the initial call was rescheduled with limited communication. Second round was a 2 person panel, but that was 4 weeks ago now, and been ghosted since. Recruiter seemed disinterested and mostly a checkbox call.

      Question 1

How can you best manage the slow pace of government work?

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Ad Hoc (DC)

      Interview

Spoke with Recruiter #1, went through the process and was given an offer for the role. I accepted but the catch was Ad Hoc hadn’t secured the contract yet. Weeks went past with Recruiter #1 saying it was any day now that the contract would be finalized. At the 2 month mark (yes 2 months) I started looking again, still being in weekly contact with Recruiter #1. At the 14th week mark I got silence. I tried in vain to contact Recruiter #1 but there was nothing. After jumping through hoops, I finally got Recruiter #2 who told me that they didn’t get the contract and Recruiter #1 left. No one had picked up his work. I was struck by the unprofessionalism and lack of internal communication. Then Recruiter #2 had me interview for another role and set up a meeting with me to make sure I would be in the loop for this 2nd PM role. I thought this was great until she ghosted me a week later. Again, I had to hunt down a recruiter to find out what was happening. I finally got an answer 3 weeks later that Ad Hoc didn't get the contract. So I decided to move on. A month later, while still looking for work because it’s horrible out there, I stupidly sent in an application to another role at Ad Hoc. I was able to connect with Recruiter #3, who had no idea I had interviewed previously and didn’t know I was in the system. I again interviewed for another role. Please note, each time I interviewed I got very positive feedback. I mean, they made me an offer at one point but I didn’t stop looking elsewhere knowing what a mess Ad Hoc’s process is. 2 weeks in I was ghosted again. When I tried to connect with Recruiter #3 I got nothing. I reached out to Recruiter #2, who told me Recruiter #3 had left and she didn't know about that particular contract. Then she directed me to Recruiter #4 who acted like I was bothering her. I found out that the contract didn’t happen and she (Recruiter #4) would be reaching out to me if there was anything coming up. When I pointed out that Ad Hoc had 3 open PM roles she said to apply to all of them and she’d get back to me. She didn’t. This place is a dumpster fire of unprofessionalism, incompetence and unprincipled behavior. It is borderline cruel. I’d say avoid them but they may not be able to survive the current employment climate.

      Product Manager Interview

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Ad Hoc (DC) in Nov 2022

      Interview

The interview itself was completely focused on situational questions, "tell me a time when...". There was little to nothing about skillset, background or knowledge of tools to be used in the role.
