Communication went well, initially applied for an engineer position but during initial interview was told they felt I would do well in their project manager role. My perception was this was a more urgent fill, rather than being impressed with my project management capabilities.
Follow up communication was relatively quick, and within a few weeks I received and signed a contingent offer letter that was ultimately waiting on final approval from the client. Had a 30min meet & greet with the client which was scheduled about an hour in advance, which felt more like another interview, asked about my background, resume, etc. Overall, it went well from my perspective, no obvious red flags.
A week went by and I heard nothing, so I sent an email asking for an update. My understanding was they were trying to move quickly to get the project started, so I was surprised they hadn’t contacted me. 2 days later I followed up with a phone call, and the recruiter sounded like she had forgotten all about me and said she would follow up that afternoon. It wasn’t until the following day I received a canned response appreciating me for my time and that the client went with another candidate.
Thankfully I hadn’t told my current employer I had signed the contingent contract, or I would have been screwed. Watch out for this firm - hopefully my experience was an exception, and not the norm.
