      Software Developer Interview

      Jun 26, 2023
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Aria Systems (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2022

      Interview

The interview was 2 rounds. The first round was just a phone screen with the Hiring Manager who asked a few easier Database Questions. I then was asked to complete a take home project to implement a small REST API which I would need to present as part of the second round interview. The second round was a 4 hour technical interview where I presented the project and was asked design and implementation questions.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Aria Systems in Jun 2020

      Interview

Interviewer asked technical questions, but demonstrated limited understanding of the questions he asked. For example, after I talked about the work I had done with REST services, he asked, with apparent uncertainty, whether they used HTTP or some other protocol. I was consequently unable to gain much insight into what the work would look like. When I mentioned that I had to move on a quick timeline because I had received an offer from another company (I had already scheduled this interview prior to beginning the other interview process), he got resentful and acted as if I had wasted his time.

      Developer/Engineer Interview

      Oct 28, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Aria Systems

      Interview

I went to the interview to practice my interview skills mostly. The company has been a "startup" for a decade, and will be forever. The business model is basically an utility from day one. Nothing innovative, except getting clients by being the lowest bidder. Phone interview, then on-site interview. The standard deal. They tried too hard too be like Google, but the questions were just silly. Lots of hypotheticals, instead of concentration on the fundamentals. From what it sounded like the place is under-staffed, high turn-over, and as a result most of time goes to putting fires out while delivering uptime that clients expect. Wasn't interested from the get go, even more so after the interviews.
