      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Beauhurst in Jun 2019

      Interview

My interviewer was very nice and easy to talk to. She established a dialogue which helped with showing myself and my skills (and calming my nerves). Most of the questions seemed to test whether I would be a good fit for the company's culture and the role. None of the questions seemed to be for catching me out or find inadequacies. It's clear they wanted someone with potential to grow in this specific company. I applied online and was contacted the next day, setting up a phone interview in 8 days time. I received my rejection 3 days after the interview. They gave me helpful feedback.

Thanks for writing this up - every bit of feedback we receive is really useful to helping us refine our processes. I'm delighted that you had such a good experience on the phone even if it didn't quite work out on this occasion. I hope the rest of your job hunt goes well!

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Beauhurst (London, England) in Jun 2019

      Interview

A 30 minute phone call with the hiring manager, a face to face interview with the hiring manager and some other members of the team, followed by a further face to face interview with multiple people from the ops/sales/am team, and meeting with the co-founder. The interviews totalled a minimum of 4 hours, including two trips into London (taking holiday from current place of employment). The interviews were very longwinded and repetitive. Feedback was requested by myself and by my recruiter after each interview stage, and only very vague or no feedback at all was given. The final response and rejection included the feedback: 'something wasn't quite right'/'something was missing' (I cannot remember the exact language they used). The overall vibe from Beauhurst (apart from a few individuals) was extremely pretentious and it was apparent the Beauhurst team had done no research about myself or my experience, and were only focussed on themselves. The preparation I undertook for these interviews was extensive and was hardly focussed on, unless the interviewer was trying to catch you out. In summary, this whole interviewing experience was a total waste of time and nothing constructive or helpful came from it. I would encourage the Beauhurst team to conduct more research about their candidates, try to be more clear on what they are looking for; to ensure they do not waste people's time in the future, and to offer some constructive feedback!

Thank you for taking the time to apply and for your feedback on how you found things. I’m really sorry that you didn’t enjoy the application process. We aim to make every candidate’s experience as positive as possible but we clearly haven’t succeeded in this case - for that, I can only apologise. I’ll address a few of your points here, but would also be very happy to have a more in-depth conversation if that would be helpful - pop an email to jobs@beauhurst.com and I will get back to you asap. We try to be very upfront about the duration of our interview process - there are likely to be three in-person interviews for every candidate (including a social element). We look to move as quickly as we can in-between each step but think it’s really important that we don’t rush the interviews themselves. This is partly to ensure that we make the right decision over who we hire, but it also means that each candidate can make sure that it’s the right job for them! I’m sorry you felt that not enough research was done by those interviewing you - I can assure you that everyone read your application in advance and was fully briefed between interviews. Similar questions in certain areas can often be a sign that we’re trying to dig into something a little deeper or work something out that we don’t quite understand. Finally, I’m sorry to hear that the feedback relayed to you by the recruiter was so vague - we think it’s really important to give detailed feedback to any candidates we’ve met in person but that appears not to have happened here. I will look into this to avoid it happening again. Please do reach out to us directly if you would like a more detailed breakdown. I hope the rest of your search goes well and you find the perfect job soon.
