I applied online. I interviewed at Benefit Cosmetics
Interview
Applied, + Skype interview + workshop interview. Pay all of your own expenses which was £350 for me. You are asked to complete 2 presentations. 1 of a brand that has caught your eye. My advice would be imaginative, Don't choose a beauty brand because it's really obvious. Think ' outside the box' i.e. Dominos Pizza, Yellow cab taxis... Lindt chocolate bunny. It's only 5 mins but I found myself bored in some. Don't read off the board. Stand up, go to the front, be silly. Also a presentation training someone how to do something in 5 mins. Again some are painfully obvious. You aren't judged on what you teach but how you teach it. 100% do something practical, get them up. You are training 2 other applicants but infront of many more. Don't do oragami or scooby doo bands because it's really boring for the rest of the group as they can't see. A dance lesson, hair doos or singing are good ideas. Make sure you conclude well , ask your students if they were to do it again how could they improve? Oh and drink making is too messy and afew did it. Train something that they don't have a choice in so you don't go over time. You don't want them going hmmmm orange or apple juice. They have a stop watch and they will say hurry up 1 min left. It is from 10-3. Everyone is lovely. Although I wasn't successful I learnt loads and I can see the potential that I should have unleashed. If only we could turn back time! Benefit are a brilliant company so good luck if you have an interview. Dress smart but not overly office like. They don't. I would say a nice dress, funky scarf and shoes. And incase it isn't obvious do your makeup well. Get your eyebrows threaded and smile. The next stage was the day in the life of a trainer and after that there is a formal interview. Oh and if you aren't from a beauty background still apply, loads there worked for all different industries.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They had a 4 page maths quiz which was hard. There isn't a way to revise for it. It is things like... If Jimmy makes £15.43 an hour and he pays 15% tax 3% pension and he works 36 hours a week how long will it take him to save up for a holiday that costs £2600 if he spends £203 a week on rent and £50 on food.... yes that type... BLEUGH! It's not to scare you it's just to make you think. See how you perform under pressure, do you give up? do you try? do you cry and get annoyed? Just do your best :). Also as much as you can show your personality. Don't talk for the sake of talking but do speak. Everyone interrupts but don't be a wall flower. Good Luck Beauties.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Benefit Cosmetics
Interview
Applied online. I was contacted by Benefit to go to an interview which meant I have to fly there ( & pay my own flights and transport ) Then a week later received a cold email. Thats all well and good but could they just have arranged a Skype interview instead?! Came away from the entire process ripped off and a huge waste of time and money.
