    Senior Supply Chain Interview

    Interview

Extremely time consuming. Wanted references to complete lengthy questionnaire early in the process, required to complete a multipart assessment and was "interviewed" by their Due Diligence team which felt more like an interrogation. They stated that they wanted to move Fast, yet a month would pass with 0 communication. The end result was no role offered, and post decision feedback by XPO through the recruitment firm was lacking. In fact the rationale given for not being selected was something that was known upfront through a simple resume review before the process even began. Apparently wha is important to XPO is bringing in "high fliers" who can make a splash in a press release, rather than someone who can deliver. A waste of time.

    • Due Diligence Team asked 1 hour of questions initially via a video conference and then participated in other face 2 face interviews as an "observer". So many invasive questions were asked, as well as the same question rephrased multiple times. Rather interesting approach, and one that to me indicated a lack of trust for people.   Answer Question

    Operations Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Berlin Packaging.

    Interview

Reached out to by HR at their Corporate Office in Chicago. Initial phone interview for 30-40 minutes and then forwarded my information to local Hiring Manager. Spoke to Hiring Manager on the phone and then met in person with Hiring Manager and other local teammates.

It was a thorough process. I can see why other people below have stated that HR/Hiring Managers ask tough questions -- it's because they're looking for more than just experience fit. Focus on culture fit, work habits and behaviors and my goals. Questions about stability/time between or at jobs is the norm, so candidates should expect that as a part of any interview process.

Ultimately didn't move forward in the process, but it was a thorough process where I learned a lot about their company and culture, so I would recommend to anyone in the future to consider Berlin Packaging and look to stay in touch with my HR/Hiring Manager myself.

    Interview Questions

    • How did you overcome a delivery or operations error that negatively affected a customer? What did you learn for the future? How did you go above and beyond to make sure that customer was taken care of?   Answer Question

    Interview

It took about two months to get a face to face interview. It was odd becuase there was no one to greeet you when you enter the office. Interview was wierd too. The manager talked during the whole time pretty much and the interview took an hour. However, they never got back to me and I couldn't tell if they were seriously looking since the position was open for a long time.

    Interview

Interviewed at their subsidiary: Freund Container. Horrible interview experience. After jumping through some hoops and a fairly lengthy phone interview with the hiring manager, I was brought in to meet with him and his superior. I was grilled for an hour. These guys think they're the "sharks" on Shark Tank! I believe I held my own with these alpha-male wannabes, but I walked out of that interview wondering what the heck was that? Having read the other interview descriptions, that seems to be their MO -- group interview which keeps the interviewee at a numbers disadvantage.

A very simple process. First, HR phone screen, next in person with hiring manager and lastly met with the COO (acting CFO and two controllers). Expect questions like, Why Berlin Packaging (if you want the job just boost their egos). Expect to answer questions about your job history.

    Sales Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Berlin Packaging.

    Interview

I had a phone interview with HR which was pretty standard. Two weeks later, I was then asked to fly to Dallas to meet with the west VP. I did so and had lunch with the sales team and then a relatively informal interview with the regional VP of sales. 2 weeks later I was asked to fly to their HQ in Chicago to meet with the EVP of sales, COO and VP of HR. This included a lunch as well. The questions were all pretty basic. They had me attempt to prepare a presentation on the spot about the company with 30 mins given. They came in 15 mins early so i could not complete the task. I told them I'd never put myself in a situation to rush a presentation for a customer so I've never been in a situation like that.

I felt that the HQ team was disjointed from the Dallas office. I heard 2 different messages and was given 2 very different impressions of the company. The HQ team had a very hard time understand that sometimes you want to leave your incumbent company because you need a change. I was borderline accused of lying to them on why I was leaving my prior company. It was the first time in an interview (I've done 60+ of them) I ever felt like I was being accused of being dishonest.

Well bottom line. 1 month of my time plus 4 days of PTO... I never received a call back or email or heard from ANYONE in the company. I reached out 4 times to multiple people 30 days later, got nothing back.

That to me shows what kind of character this company has. I'll pass.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Berlin Packaging.

    Interview

Interview process was easy - phone interview with corporate recruiter then onsite interview with local branch. The manager who interviewed me onsite never contacted me after my interview to let me know whether or not I had the job. I sent two follow-up emails. I thought that was pretty rude and unprofessional to leave a person waiting like that.

I applied through other source. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Berlin Packaging (Los Angeles, CA) in April 2016.

    Interview

The HR are very nice, they got my resume from Monster and said that they are interested in me,
and then I did the 2 HR interviews and they said I AM THE ONE!!,
after that they referred me to the hiring manager and after suffering to reach him, we did the interview and he was so excited to see me in person and after that we did the in person interview and it went very well with him and the other two ladies, and i left and he was very happy,
and THEN after 1 week i received an email from the HR partner and she was notifying me that they are interested but waiting fro the manager's reply,
but i waited for 2 more weeks and i decided to send her email asking about my status and she replied me that she will check with the hiring manager and get back to me,
then she replied back with shame!! she was very sorry that the manager decided to move with another candidate!!, without any reason.
