It is a very long interview process.
1. Phone screen with recruiter (30min)
2. Hiring manager interview (45min)
3. Practical component (1 hour)
4. Chronological work history (90min)
5. 2 x culture fit interviews (1 hour)
The recruiter I worked with was for the most part really great. Sometimes she was slow to reply, but overall I had a positive experience with her.
I have a lot of feedback to provide for the practical interview. They ask you to do a demo. During my demo, one of the interviewers randomly dropped off the call because his MacBook needed to force an update. He claimed he had no idea this was happen. I call BS because I have used a MacBook before and know for fact you get MANY warnings for iOS updates until the MacBook forces a reset. So yes he did know about this, but just kept deferring the reset and didn't bother to reset and get his computer in check before my interview. Super unprofessional. This wasted 10minutes of my interview time. Then one of the other directors who was brand new to BioRender asked me how I felt I did during the role play. I gave honest comments that I thought I did overall well, nailed the introduction presentation and the actual application demo itself, but could have brushed up on a couple features in the application. The director kept asking me "so what else did you do wrong?" and "Okay what else did you do poorly?" like he wanted me to dig my own grave. He barely acknowledged what I did well. I literally only missed one question, but these two were looking for a needle in a haystack, rather than looking at overall sales process/intent. It is impossible for someone external to know your internal processes, internal documents, discounting policies etc. It left a really bitter taste in my mouth that they would keep saying "what else did you do wrong" over and over and I can say I would never want to work for a company like this. The irony is that in the hiring manager interview, they both claimed they are very good at giving feedback and receiving feedback. Clearly that was a lie.
