UK trained journalist with a background in news journalism and television production - producing UK and European news and current affairs.
Came in for a casual conversation for position that required native English skills, by way of an informal introduction to Alexander Klopping via email.
Now, there is absolutely no suggestion on my CV that I speak Arabic (I am not even from the region) or that I’d covered Middle Eastern news in the past. Sadly, Blendle has never come across a woman of color that does not fit into an offensive stereotype, because:
HR started out by saying they didn’t need any Arabic coverage (!) or coverage of the Middle East. After each attempt to explain my profile, the person doing the interview kept repeating the same points, as though sticking to some pre-regearsed script. I have neither produced stories on the Middle East nor do I speak Arabic.
Racist recruiting practices. I wrote to Alexander afterwards. Have not heard from him till this day.
