The publisher Booktrope Editions (now closed) had accepted three of G. Guilford Barton's books for publication. He was to form, from members of Booktrope, a team consisting of an editor, proofreader, book manager (included marketing), project manager and cover designer. All of our interviews and subsequent work took place via email, an arrangement that worked well once we had become accustomed to it.
He and I had several interviews during a couple of weeks, discussing his manuscripts, my history of editing, the approaches we took to our fields, and where we found connections. He decided on which book to publish first, and we began finding the other team members together.
