I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Buck & Rider (Scottsdale, AZ) in Sep 2024
Interview
Had to put my experience out on this page. Went to an initial interview where I felt I was asked very basic questions. There was no real testing of knowledge. After a quick 15 minutes, she asked me to come in and follow someone during a following shift. When I showed up, it was basically me following a worker and bussing tables and help running food. I stayed for three hours. They then came and got me, talked for a few minutes and I left. I felt a bit odd since no one felt the need to test any of my knowledge, even basic knowledge, about food/wine. On my way out I spoke with an employee who said they have people come in and follow regularly and most of them do not return. Raised an immediate reg flag. I received an email the next day they chose to go with someone else, which is totally fine, but on the basis that I didn’t have enough knowledge for the position. My previous job was at a fine dining steakhouse, as previously stated, no one even asked me any questions. I also spoke with another previous applicant who said they had the same thing happen to them. Worked for free on a Friday night, didn’t get the job. Convienent way to get free labor seeing as they don’t even have bussers employed and they run open “interviews” all week from 2-4pm. Just wanted to put my experience out here for others to know.
The interview process was standard. Nothing out of the ordinary for a server position. The managers are cool. Just be prepared and tell the truth. I think it is a great job and a great company.
