      Customer Sucess Manager Interview

      Mar 25, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Austin, TX
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Buildxact (Austin, TX) in Mar 2022

      Interview

Process from job interview to verbal offer was just short of two weeks. -Initial brief interview with recruiter -30 minute interview with hiring manager- This was not quite enough time to have enough conversation, but the hiring manager was easy to talk to and I enjoyed our conversation. -30 minute interview with current individual in the role- This was a great addition to the process because it gives you the opportunity to talk to someone in the role, which can lead to thoughtful follow up questions for you to ask to see if there is a mutual fit. -30 minute interview with leadership in Australia. I was offered the role for 72k, no variable comp, no equity/options. I do not have experience working for a saws company (education background) I was told options would be available after one year but would not be in writing- for me, anything not in writing is non existent. I later countered with 77k because I do see potential to build a strong market in the US. I was informed three days later they were moving forward with other candidates. Green flags: -They are working to improve the lack of diversity in the organization, exemplified by marketing efforts on platforms including linkedin, instagram, etc. -I reached out to a CSM no longer with the company and they had a neutral review of the organization. -The process was quick and recruiter was communicative. Questions to ask: -CSM roles right now are generally compensated with salary + variable comp + equity (if a start up) Make sure you understand if the compensation is competitive and fits your needs. Career changers (teachers, looking at you!) negotiate, but know they may walk. -They are, like many companies, unsure about what return to work/hybrid looks like. Ask about this to make sure it fits your needs.
