I got recommended to reach out to a director by a mentor. I had a great conversation with him and he connected me with some recruiters.
I spoke with one recruiter and then mentioned to the others that I had spoke with the first recruiter so as to not step on any toes. The didn't have anything currently, but the next day I looked at jobs and they had some great ones.
I reached out to the recruiter about the role to which I applied and never heard anything back.

1. Screening chat with the recruiter - half an hour casual conversation on general interest, past experience, credentials and expected salary etc.
