This was one of the most memorable interviews I’ve ever had but only because it was uncomfortable. Growing up my father coached job seekers for a living which required much training in the interview process, and prepped me very well in this area. This one, however, raised red flags. The person who came to interview me started the conversation by speaking to their successes of multiple businesses. Normally I appreciate learning more about someone’s background, but there was something about this man’s portentous tone and body language from the very beginning that felt off. He asked a few basic interview questions, and I answered, but his responses were not conversational in between the questions and the further we talked, the more condescending his tone in questions got. The whole thing felt more like a playful interrogation (for him). At this point, I had no interest in pursuing the role where I clearly wouldn’t be taken seriously.
