California Dtsc interview questions

Applied online, got a call from ES supervisor for an interview invite. It was online on Teams, and also a written exercise. This took about 3 months. I don't know if I received an offer yet, most likely not unless the universe has given me some grace lol . The panel was super nice, probably one of the nicest ones I have had so far in my state interview experience. However, it was literally the hardest interview. One question was the general "describe your qualifications," no behavioral questions. Three very technical questions. I felt so dumb lol. I tried my best, but at some point, I'm not sure how someone who hasn't worked in this position can answer this unless they have exact experience. They were very specific. Not something you can answer in STAR. I honestly blanked out. I think that job postings should be stricter about desirable qualifications instead of being vague, so people like me can avoid positions that actually need prior experience in the same field. My advice is to apply if you have experience in hazardous waste, especially in conducting inspections. Or know your stuff to the T.

Series of scored questions with 'Describe a time' and 'How would you' type of questions geared towards the position. The Duty Statement helped me come prepared with tailored answers for these types of questions. Questions were provided upon arrival to office and prior to interview.
