      Technical Support Specialist Interview

      Feb 24, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Ljubljana
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Celtra (Ljubljana) in Feb 2023

      Interview

I applied at Celtra on their website and via some other platform. Since I didn't receive any confirmation of the application, I applied through a referral after which I got an interview. The HR with whom I interviewed initially was very nice to talk with and very transparent. She explained the role and taking a look at my resume, my experience matched really well with what they do in the job. However, she did explain clearly that they are looking for someone junior and given the experience I have, it's a downgrade. I was ok with it since I believed my experience will be efficiently utilized and be a big help to the team. With that said and with the salary agreed upon, I proceeded to the next steps. The Team lead was kind enough and explained what they do in-depth. Along with it, I was asked about my experience. Then there were scenario-based questions. After this, I was moved up to a technical test. Since it was positive, I was moved to the 3rd interview with the teammates who actually work in that position. They asked scenario-based and behavioural questions to see cultural fitness. Seemed all well since I vibed with them and answered all questions in depth. After this, I got a rejection email. The good thing is you get to schedule a call with HR to get feedback. I did and found out that my experience and seniority were more compared to all their teammates. They were looking for someone junior. I believe this could have been delivered in the beginning and then later to just waste time for everyone. I agree with the other feedback in the post below. For junior-level positions, this process is too long. Not needed as this is not Microsoft or Amazon. Could be cut down to: 1. Initial HR 2. Technical test 3. Teamlead and teammates together 4. And finally decide if to give an offer or not. The interview process is of 4 stages. 1st short one with the HR - 2nd with the Team Lead - 3rd with the team and 4th . My experience was positive from the beginning. Maybe I will come back for senior positions.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Celtra (Ljubljana) in Feb 2023

      Interview

Celtra is on my list of desired companies for a while. I have been waiting for them to open some non-developer positions for almost a year (I have a strong background in the digital field), and I finally saw one job opening on Facebook. So, I DMd the job poster asking if it is possible to apply for the job even if it is too technical for my background. He said, there is no problem. Cool. So, I have sent him my CV and cover letter. Just to be sure that this time someone will actually look at my CV, I have applied for the same position on Linkedin, Indeed, and Celtra's webpage, all the same day. For any job seeker, it is really discouraging to realize that my CV wouldn't be processed if I didn't do it directly through their employee. The recruiter knew right away that I applied through their employee. She was really, really nice, though. Easily the nicest recruiter I’ve had the chance to talk to, ever. The “problem” was that when agreeing to a phone interview (which is only 1 out of 4 steps before potentially getting the offer) I was sent links to check out Celtra’s “amazing STAR method interviewing style”. Copy from their webpage: Keep in mind this is not the type of interview where you review your resume with the interviewer. You will be asked behavior-based questions so please come prepared with examples that best represent your abilities. So, I practiced behavior-like questions, with examples from my previous jobs (all by STAR method), like it was said on their webpage. But I was asked only two, most basic and bland questions. Most standard questions about my resume and "more about me! None of what was written on the webpage. Really disappointing. It felt like I was destined to not pass it. The interview took 18-20 minutes. It would bother me this much if this wasn’t really a basic, entry position, that I have more than 10 years of experience with. 4 rounds before even getting an offer is a big exaggeration for entry-level positions. I also know some people who are working in one of the offices where I live, and I know for sure they didn’t go through this so rigorously. Anyways, painful and very, very discouraging for further job seeking. It's a shame that companies basically lose quality people like this. I have chosen to write this because I want to be able to see other companies on Glassdoor (which I can’t do without reviewing one first). Good luck to everyone reading this!

      Question 1

Plainly going through the CV. No examples. No STAR or any of the methods from their website.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Celtra (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2019

      Interview

I had a phone screening with the talent acquisition person, followed by a video call with the hiring manager, and then an in-person interview with two people on the team. Everything went well and I thought I nailed the interview, but in the end they decided to go with someone with less experience (aka cheaper). One thing I did appreciate was getting a call and explanation letting me know their decision, rather than just an impersonal interview.
