I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Centric Software in Sep 2024
Interview
Contacted by a recruiter. Standard phone call discussion on the role.
2 part Take home coding challenge on stackblitz that took about 30 mins for both.
- Basic typescript higher order function questions for manipulating arrays and objects; most are one liners.
- React application for rendering data to a table and manipulating the elements.
Technical interview over Teams using a StackBlitz prompt. Typescript questions for manipulating customer data and populating a report. Ensure that the report is generated efficiently in O(n).
Both interviewers were very chill and helpful.
The interview ended early after I got myself in a tailspin over complicating a solution.
Other interviews say that the engineers were rude. I didnt find that to be true at all. The interview ended early because I failed to perform, not because they were rude.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Develop a function to generate a report that aggregates customer order data.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Centric Software (Madrid) in Oct 2024
Interview
The interview process included:
- A 30' screening with hiring manager
- A 60' technical meeting with software engineering manager
- A 90' technical assessment meeting with a software architect and a team manager
- A 60' cultural fit meeting with the engineering Head and R&D VP
- A 30' role alignment meeting with the engineering Head and software engineering manager
Everyone I met was nice and friendly, and the meetings were very conversational.
I was a bit rusty in Java after a few years of not actively working with the language, and during the technical meeting and the following assessment, I made a couple of silly mistakes. My interviewers were understanding and helpful regardless, making for a good experience overall.
Knowing you would meet people in high management positions was a bit daunting initially, but everyone was friendly and tried to build a comfortable context for the conversations. You can tell they care about the hiring process and want to invest time in it to hire well.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Some questions to define fundamental object-oriented programming abstractions and some Java questions about data structures, concurrency, etc.
Questions about essential conflict management, decision-making processes, strategies to communicate and report to peers and managers, team dynamics, etc.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Centric Software (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2024
Interview
The interview process was horrible. I spent one hour on the online assessment, completed it, and then went to the onsite technical interview. During the onsite interview, I was asked to develop something that I had just started, and within 10 minutes, the interviewer said, "Thanks for your time," and disconnected the call, which was unprofessional. Later, he sent feedback stating that I did not meet their standards. I spent more than an hour on the assessment, yet he reached a conclusion in less than 10 minutes.
