      Chemist Interview

      Dec 8, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Farmers Branch, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ceutical Labs (Farmers Branch, TX) in Jun 2010

      Interview

I had two interviews with ceutical labs before I began employment. They asked me technical questions that pertained to chromatography instruments. They were pretty friendly and told me about the long term opportunities of the company.

      Chemist Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Farmers Branch, TX
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ceutical Labs (Farmers Branch, TX) in Mar 2023

      Interview

This interview was a 3 hour waste of time, they made me fill out a paper application in the middle of my interview as well as having me talk with 4 different groups of people. The team and direct manager that I met were very kind and welcoming ensuring that this is a great environment for entry level work as you will have the opportunity to learn much here; however the caveat is that you must wear many hats at this company and often times everyone is working overtime (including weekends) to meet expected turn around times. Then they had a man named COURTLAND come in, and I still don't know his position in the company or what the purpose of speaking to him was except to berate me for my "lack of education" and to question the validity of my degree because I didn't know the answers to his random pop quiz of chemistry questions that "he knew the answers to in high school". After many dramatic moments of him smacking his forehead and being frustrated that I had no experience (although the position I applied for was clearly entry level) he then moved to ask me questions about what I wanted from the company; when I responded with a supportive growth environment so that I may build my skills over the next 3-5 years of my career he then said "we only want for-lifers here" saying that they weren't interested in short term employees. He started discussing the monthly bonus opportunity where IF the employees hit their turnover rate they have the potential to earn thousands of dollars on top of their pay, which to me is a scam-like incentive putting the emphasis on speed rather than accuracy. Then when I asked pay he said "I like to keep you all hungry so we keep the pay in the 50th percentile but its definitely livable", and I have to be honest I've never heard a company brag about paying low before so this definitely hit as a red flag. After I was done speaking to Courtland three people passed by me and asked if I was ok and said: " oh he's just like that" and "I told him to stop doing that to the new interviewees" which tells me that this mans degrading comments are the normal at this company and there is no intention of correcting this behavior. The next person I spoke to was someone actually in HR, and although she was much kinder, when I asked if PTO or time off was flexible she laughed. When I asked her about pay as well she said that the bonuses, overtime, and medical being partially covered by the company are "apart of the total package" before telling me that it starts out at 35k. That makes this job pay $16 an hour for a long list of responsibilities, working rotational weekends, and no flexible time-off. Overall this could have been a great opportunity to build into a career as an Analytical Chemist but the toxic work environment and low pay were too much of a deterrent for me to be able accept any offer given here.

      Anonymous employee
      Dallas, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Ceutical Labs (Dallas, TX) in Jun 2013

      Interview

I went through two interviews. First one was employees and then management. I guess employees get first right of refusal. Management follows with second interview. Questions were more about me and my goals.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What I wanted to be in five years.
