I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Crown Prosecution Service (Birmingham, England) in Nov 2022
Interview
One legal assessment which was 1 hour 20 minutes long. 1 hour prep time. 20 minutes interview. This was a advocacy presentation that had to address sentencing guidelines. Second one was standard interview assessing behavioral competency cases covering Making Effective Decisions, Communication & Influencing and Managing Quality Service.

Question 1
Tell us about a case you have dealt with where you are proud of your work and why.
It was a lengthy process with several stages over a number of months requiring significant commitment and time resource.
The interview consists of two parts legal test (theory may have been given in advance) , then you present your answer to the legal question to the panel and then the actual interview starts. Well over 2 hours from start to finish and this is only for the final interview.
This is the easy one because the recruitment process for advocates takes about double the time ; so estimate roughly that you’ll need 6 months for that.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Crown Prosecution Service (Hertford, England) in Nov 2023
Interview
Advocacy submission interview in front of a panel, with the information being given in advance, followed by competencies based interview a week later with 4 questions, lasting 45 minutes in total.
