I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Cruise (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2019
Interview
The interviewer is nice but the job doesn't match my direction. He asked my opinion on the self-driving vehicle and any research experience on it. Then he started to ask some technical question. And we chatted for about half an hour. Also mentioned my programming skill. They required good use of python, but also understand Matlab and C++

Question 1
Design of self-driving vehicle behavior at the intersection and how to interact with human.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Cruise
Interview
applied online, had a call with the recruiter and later hiring manager, didn't continue the process because position was filled before moving forward with the next steps, overall neutral experience
After the initial recruiter call, I got an interview with the manager. As it turns out, their job descriptions aren't to be trusted... My background matched the job description pretty well overall including the "What you must have" section. But the "Bonus Points" section that they listed (certain coding experience) was actually essential to the job! Not even the recruiter seemed to know that. I believe many companies will give applicants one try at a job application and then block them from re-applying for some time. And job descriptions that can't clearly say what is really needed ruin your chances quite literally. It also eliminates excitement for the company...

Question 1
What was the hardest coding problem you have ever worked on?
Series of interviews, recruiter screening and a technical interview. Overall process was a bit slow but communicative. This was surprising because i was told it was urgent need. Technical questions were not very well thought out.
